This shit also would happen when it seems like all pro teams down here are seemingly heading in the right direction after all but the heat have been borderline incompetent for 15+ years. dolphins finally have a qb, coach who can get more out of his players than the sum of the parts, and an actual smart well thought out team building plan. The marlins we have discussed ad nauseum, the heat seemed to finally be building something since their post lebron mediocrity run plus a legit shot at a superstar like giannis next offseason, and the panthers (ya im a panthers season ticket holder because they are close to work and the team seemed good) at least have a good nucleus of young talent if they could just get some defense. And of course this happens. On the bright side we do have some good years to come once this is in the rear view mirror.

Wonder if there is any thought about trying a Willingham type experiment with say a Misner or Burdick? They are in a group of positions where there is a lot in the system while catcher is barren top to bottom.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. RH catchers have to do it with LH hitters but they are not as common.
FWIW I thought Misner threw right.
Burdick is probably the better option regardless. He is shorter and more compact. He has a ++ arm but he is not as good defensively in the OF.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

Also, that Catcher experiment greatly hindered Willingham's career. His bat was major league ready about 2 years before he was actually called up. Also, might've shortened his career on the backside. I'm not in any hurry to try that again.

Eh, putting him at C was actually an attempt to get him to the majors, not the opposite. It was the only position he wasn't really blocked at.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

U can get a 21/22 year C very easy this year if wanted.
Patrick Bailey
Austin Wells
Dillon Dingler
Mike Rothenberg
Casey Opitz
Shane McGuire
Brady Smith
and about 8 HS C
Dont forget they like Banfield ALOT as a Defensive C and could be a ML Backup right now. Fortes is also in the system-u will have those guys in AA/Hi A and they got 3 young C
Gonna be pretty interesting to see how Miami plays this draft especially if its 10 Rds.Take all College Guys who are 21/22 is the way I would go-dont take any hard sign HS guy unless u agree to deals already

See I would exclusively take 10 high upside HS players. 5 arms and 5 prep players.
Seems like we haven't had a high impact prep player make it from the system in quite some time.Amy Adams, AKA Cinnamon MuffLogan Morrison: "If baseball didn't exist, I would probably be ... like a curler. Or a hairstylist."

They were willing to call up a 20-year old Cabrera the previous year, but not a 25-year old Willingham the year after. Willingham put up an average OPS of 1.040 in the minors between 2003 and 2005, and that resulted in a grand total of 48 Major League ABs during that time period. If Willingham gets a true shot in 2004 maybe we don't need to hand out a huge contract to Carlos Delgado, and could've used that money elsewhere.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

It does blow my mind that Loria kept pulling that move of signing these big contracts and paying them almost nothing the first year or couple of years and then trading them away before he had to spend any real money. The MLB is culpable for the damages done to this franchise by allowing his shady practices.
