Is that a playoff team, though? I'm not sure. You'd certainly need Stanton to be healthier than he's been in his time with the Yankees that's for sure. What assumptions are we making about the minor league system under this hypothetical? The neglect of the minor league system especially in the later years of Loria I think set us back more than anything, and yes dealing guys like Paddack and Castillo was a part of that.

My guide says it's Game 3. Which I somehow ended up watching in a skybox at Joe Robbie. Only time I've ever watched a game from a skybox, it was awesome and probably the greatest live baseball game I've ever seen. Then Game 4 had the greatest ending to a game I've ever seen, I was not in attendance for that one, though.

It's conceivable. Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues for one season of about 81 reg season games. Salaries based on % of TV revenue. DH and automated balls and strikes. Hotels put to use. Start on July 1.

What would be the plan for the minor leagues though? Players are sitting on their asses until a couple lucky few get called up due to injuries? That doesn't seem like a good plan.

Possibly, I'd imagine that'd be a huge coordination task, since then we're talking about 100s of people on one complex in a day, when the whole point of using these spring training facilities is to avoid big crowds.
