  • If we wanna eat some of the Dodgers cash, I'd just do something simple.

    Marlins get:

    Joe Kelly: (2 years/$21 Million)
    Kody Hoese 3B
    Connor Wong C

    Dodgers get:

    Adam Conley

RHP Tyler Kinley claimed off waivers by the Rockies

      - - - - - - - - - -

Not a loss since we have about 8 other RP in AAA or AA who are same age and cant throw strikes either

Romo is said to be deciding soon

A couple teams are interested in Brett Gardner on a multiyear deal but Gardy, a Yankee since 2009, prefers to remain a Yankee. So still talking.

Marlins have called and are interested but like says Gardner told them he wants to stay with NYY. This happened EARLY in process(check early pages in thread I mentioned it) but havent heard us tied to him lately as we are looking for more power types

          • Cubs and Colorado have been talking alot with us regarding trades

Colorado is Ian Desmond,David Murphy,Bryan Shaw,Wade Davis. They have Comp A pick and some prospects we like
CHC is Schwarber,Tyler Chatwood. Dont have prospects but have Almora Jr and Ian Happ to sweeten pot

Seems Miami is very aggressive in trade talks for OF/RP instead of FA stuff right now well beside Romo. Hearing they hoping to get him

Guess they think they can add OF/RP along with some cash and get more stuff included? Desmond,Murphy,Schwarber,Almora Jr and Happ would all be bats they could use and Shaw,Davis and Chatwood are arms that are $$$ but solid

Marlins want at least 1 BAT(Prefer LHB who can play OF but would like IF/OF type) and 2 RP. Would love a SP/Swingman IF price is right too

              • Reason why none of this stuff is close with Miami is teams are waiting to get commitments from players. Colorado,Cubs,LAD dont wanna trade guys then miss out on the SP they want. Its like the NBA,once teams know they got guy then trades can move fast.

NYY and LAA want him bad. Neither is shy about spending so very possible. More interested to see what guys like MadBum,Ryu and 2nd level arms get. 15 million a year for Teheran or someone drives price up on Urena/Caleb and makes teams need to trade guys to afford that.

Chatwood cost Cubs 13 million a year as a RP same with Shaw/Davis

                    • Man if the Angels signed Cole, I think they'd probably have double the Marlins entire payroll wrapped up in 4 players next year.

Nobody in the MLB sees a problem with that?

They also still wouldn’t be a playoff team most likely. Arte Moreno in recent years has started to act like a Jeffrey loria with deeper pockets. They’ve been horrendous at player development and have spent big on mediocre players.

The best thing to ever happen to the marlins or at least the biggest bullet they’ve ever dodged was not signing fielder or Pujols in 2012

They can't even get 3rd in the AL West. Houston better,Oakland not better but seem to win and Texas should get Rendon or Donaldson which will make them solid

Much like Boras MLB dont care long as u paying the tax to them

Jeff Loria dodged a bullet that's it, we've been terrible without Pujols we would've been terrible with him.

Bringing up how good/not good the Angels will be is missing the point.

Sergio Romo is drawing significant interest: a’s, twins, marlins, phillies, Red Sox, perhaps even giants, where Romo won rings and closed out 2012 Workd Series. Deal likely will come at meetings.

I know 2 of the 3 finalists are A's and Marlins. We want him bad but have backup plan if don't. Cishek,Treinen,Betances in that order

Desmond has been a negative WAR player for 3 seasons with over 1300 PA during that time.

He's owed 2/$25. This is worse than Wil Myers.

I honestly don't know what prospect combination can make that work. This is like negative $35 million in value so you'd need Rollison, Pint, and a Comp Pick, and sending back even less than the Villar trade (14th round pick).
