      4 IP, 6K, 0.00 WHIP

The pitching is very encouraging. I mean, if even 1 of the current crop turns into a # 3 they are really in business with Sixto, Neidert, Stewart, Gallen, and Yamamoto up next, with presumed FA money in 2021.

I think they need a little more than that. They at least need to get to the point where in 2 years they have enough of a surplus of proven major league pitching that they can deal one of those arms for hitting that they will most certainly need.

        • Based on Spring, (and his entire Marlins career frankly) Chen looks like our 7th best starter at best. He's gotta be headed for the pen, right? One Time.

          • Man the last 3 rotation spots are hard to choose.

            • I'd probably stick Richards in the pen, you know a spot is going to open up probably sooner rather than later in the rotation and he'll get his shot. He's the guy that I think is most likely to end up in the pen anyway. All goes well and you trade at least one, maybe even both of Urena and Straily at the deadline. They'll all get their shot at the rotation.

              • id just try and find a team to take straily for a decent prospect at the end of spring training and go with Urena, Alcantara, Smith, Lopez, and Richards with Chen out of the pen as the long guy should 1 of them falter and then after that start trying out some prospect depth like Neidert, Gallen, etc.

                • I'd only do it if there is a real market for Straily. You'd have to think the market would be better come mid-season as teams start dealing with attrition from injuries.

                  • THey should really go 6 man rotation. Limit young guys innings too.

Yep. This is the winner. Every fourth time through the rotation you skip someone new to build in an "off week" after every 3rd start, and configure your roster so you can send them down and bring up an extra arm or bat every 10 days when the next guy goes down.

Or just go full on Rays and have 2 SP and everyone just throws constantly one time through the lineup. Chen, Conley, and Garcia could totally get in on that action.

                      • I’d highly recommend you stay away from looking at paddacks stats this spring

                        • Dan jennings had a pretty interesting interview on craig mish's podcast if anyone has 45 minutes to listen to it. And if you dont, long story short is jeffrey loria is an unbelievable moron

                            1 Trade Deadline!! July 31

                            2020

The standard roster size will expand from 25 to 26 (with a 13-pitcher maximum). September rosters, meanwhile, will shrink from 40 to 28 (with a 14-pitcher maximum).

                            • Love the 1 Trade Deadline. I like not allowing the entire 40-man roster to be called up, but if you're only increasing it to 28 players, why do it at all?

I think u can call up ANYONE still on 40 man but only have 28 available a game(Like how NBA,MLS and NFL have). They got 18,30,53 on roster but only 12,18,45 a game available. So if u wanna sit Chen,Prado and 5 other players for a series u make them inactive and call up 7 guys on the 40 Man. NOT DFA guys since they are still on 40 Man but just making them "inactive"

Agree on Deadline however. No more playoff teams waiting-if they want a vet they gotta get him on 7/31
