Ya u can only be put on waivers once. Teams usually put all of their guys on waivers to try to get them thru just in case.

If a team claims your guy then u can do 3 things

1 Let that team get him for nothing
2 Work a trade out with that team
        3 Pull him back

Also with these trades-if a guy is on the 40 man he has to pass thru waivers in order to get dealt. So if we make other trades the return will likely be a guy NOT on the teams 40 man

        - - - - - - - - - -

Dean likely didn't get the call because he hurt his back. Nothing serious since he played last night but teams normally dont like calling up guys who are hurt

        - - - - - - - - - -

Rather we traded Bour earlier but Mills isn't bad return for him

Try him as a SP(Maybe 4/5 SP) and at worse another LHR to add to Conley,O'Grady Quijada,Lee,Kinley. Mills has a good chance of being a ML Arm and will be 23 next year

Have heard we had atleast 1(possibly 2) others claimed so we could see another trade this weekend. We also had few guys pass thru

My issue isn't with the trade or the return (I'll miss Bour, but he's obviously not in the plans going forward and Mills seems like a decent enough prospect), but with the fact that we are wasting time with Ortega and Galloway. Dean is a Major League ready player at this point. I know he is not a top prospect or anything but he could be someone that could potentially start in LF next year. They should be giving Dean all the at bats he can get until the end of the year to see what they have. He was 2-4 last night coming off the injury ad is now hitting .425 with 2 homers in his last 10 games. He has nothing left to prove in AAA.

I wonder who else was claimed...if I had to guess, I'd think DD, Straily, or Rojas. Also I would assume that Castro and Prado both cleared.

Well they are probably giving Ortega a look for next year. No reason Galloway should be on the team instead of Dean-the excuse given is he can play CF if needed and Dean can't.

Heard it was DD and an arm but no clue who. They have until tonight(i think) to work something out with those teams

Ortega’s ceiling is as a 4th OF. Which is not unimportant, but relatively easy to find. Dean, at 24 is a potential starting OF here for a few seasons. The emphasis should be on seeing what he can do at this level.

And don’t get me wrong, I’d have no issue trading DD but if he goes, they really have no good options at 1B the rest of this year or next (as it currently stands).

Well I think Ortega got the call because Dean was hurt at the time and they wanted to take a look at him anyways

I get that but he’s clearly healthy enough to play since he did last night. Also, there’s no reason to have Ortega and Galloway up. If you want to take a look at Ortega, fine, but send down Galloway and and call Dean up already. Like I said, it just seems like a waste of time to play either guy ahead of Dean.

Also, just a thought about 1B if DD ends up getting traded. I know the plan is likely to get a look at Cooper but he’s probably at least 2 weeks away. Why not try Prado over there? He’d be able to handle it and it could keep him healthier. Plus they can shift Anderson back to 3rd.

Agree I would DFA Galloway and add Dean right now

Doubtful DD is dealt(Heard he was claimed) but if he is then Cooper/maybe Campbell from AAA/Wallach/JT/Rivera/BA would be 1B

Prado looks to be at 3B unless Castro is dealt. They would love to put Prado at 2B and BA at 3B but they can't because Castro is there

This front office is the same as the last front office. The sooner we realize this, the better we’ll understand. They operate the same exact way.

The only reason they moved Bour was so they could spend less money next season. These fuckin guys are broke after buying this team. They completely overestimated how many asses would be in seats at Marlins Park.

This is why it’s dangerous to have a guy like Jeter calling the shots. Everyone has been telling this guy he’s God’s gift to earth for the last 2 decades so he thinks he can right any ship.

                          True.

Another thing that bothers me is the inconsistency in thought process. They trade Bour to not have to pay him next season, but they kept Barraclough when they had an opportunity to sell high a month ago. Cheap and dumb — just like Loria.

Part of me wants them to fail so bad. Another loves this team soo damn much for that.

I'm surprised Arizona didn't make a play for Realmuto. They had an interesting mix of prospects.

If JT says NO to extension in Oct then Arizona,Colorado,Houston,Washington will be making big plays for him at the Winter Meetings

They moved Bour because he didn't fit into long term plan. U realize he is 30 and the 1B power market is deep. Can sign LoMo or some other 1B in offseason
