in what way does that tweet at all imply what you are saying?

Also, did someone get injured for the Phillies and I missed it? Carlos Santana had been their everyday 1st Baseman, right? Seems like a lateral move.

Kyle Dohy is strictly a reliever but is a fast mover who I could see as the guy. Unreal K rate. WE will find out soon as they just need to inform the player.

Man, I feel like baseball teams are really hurting for money these days. The Phillies need relief from $900K?

I'd rather a Cooper/DD platoon at 1st and Dean every day LF. Gotta find out what we've got in Dean.

agreed. gotta figure Dean coming up is involved in this somehow, either with DD going to 1b or Cooper going to 1b or something like that.

Hes still valuable because of service time but his mediocre stats make him a middle to bottom tier starting 1B in the league.

im not talking star level, but he is a damn good 1b/DH option for many teams. He's worth a quality prospect, not just an organizational filler, especially with 2 more years of team control.

IDK why but i feel like i remember something with them and the luxury tax but I could be wrong. I also thought that was a bit weird as all i heard all offseason was how the phillies ownership was willing to spend money immediately.

The #Phillies are not sending one of their Top 30 prospects to the #Marlins in the Justin Bour deal.
Guessing its similar reliever only type of guy we got for Ziegler.

It implies that simply letting him go on waivers was an option, and that this allows them to salvage something in return. It certainly doesn't suggest anything valuable is coming back for a few hundred thousand dollars.

EDIT: And Mayo's tweet pretty much confirms that, lol. Hey, at least the Marlins will have a nice collection of relievers and fringe major leaguers in return for all of these trades.

I don't think they're anywhere near the luxury tax.

Yeah I hope we didn't just give him up for nothing. Bour was certainly not in our future plans, but it doesn't hurt to keep him around for a little bit, unless you're super-cheap, which we're the Marlins that's a distinct possibility, but then they also threw in money. So they only saved themselves $450K. If this was a move just to make room for Austin Dean I would've rather just DL'd, released or even just benched Prado for the rest of the year. You can move DD to 3rd and call up Dean, no big deal.

every move this franchise makes is just further proof that we have to have the worst beat writers in baseball by far.

Last year the Marlins refused to pay a cent of AJ Ellis’ salary to get a minor leaguer from Colorado. This year they trade Bour, and send money to get back a prospect. Change is happening.
Except mish, mish is actually fairly plugged in and doesnt mind talking bad about anyone. He's not really a beat writer though.

Speculation I've read online is that it is P Mackenzie Mills. 22 year old LHP just promoted to AA after a good year in the FSL.

Except A.J. Ellis is a backup catcher and Bour had a .900+ OPS this year. If you're really investing money on making the team better you keep him around until his trade value is higher, instead of dealing him for a nothing prospect when we have no real 1st Base prospect to speak of pushing him for that spot.
