We get Brinson/Harrison with prospects like Brian Miller,Jagielo,Schales,Pintor,Dean,Diaz

The Mets game is like 5 A Ball pitchers and another 5 A Ball bats

Chen threw 16 pitches. Says felt best he has in a long time. May would be earliest return time frame. marlins

They are thinking about putting him on 60 Day retro to early March which is why May is earliest

Because he's not the most promising pitcher based on a consensus of MLB talent evaluators.

Kudos to him for fighting through low independent league expectations, never being above AAA, out performing 20+ pitchers in the organization (MLB level and prospects) with higher pedigrees, etc. But come on man. The "most" promising pitcher. He's looking like a decent prospect and an amazing find so far, but let's temper expectations.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to him getting his shot after June 15th (deflect Super2 status).

It's a no brainer if they can get him.

Rupp has a .879 OPS vs LHP for his career. Over 250 PA. JT hits lefties, but this is a perfect scenario to get JT 20 starts at 1B and Bour out of the lineup here and there.

And then when the inevitable trade happens, he's just the backup catcher who starts versus lefties. Find the strong side platoon guy.

Last 1,000 PA, Rupp has a 3.4 WAR. Pretty solid.

One thing that hurts Richards is he is not on the 40 man. He will get the call up but right now we got a 40 man roster crunch-easier to add Turner for a few weeks then DFA him. With Richards once u add him its gonna be hard to DFA him

As for Rupp,Mattingly might not like him much as a #2 C. He prefers all glove guys but if he falls to u in Waivers u have to get him. Like lou said he is perfect for us

• If Brinson starts at AAA, Galloway is essential. A weak pitching staff needs speed in the OF. Speed on the bases and a legitimate lead off hitter would be helpful too.

*Just read that Brinson and Cooper were told they made the squad. Seems odd.

• Still a terrible trade BUT info for the people who were crying about Carter Capps being included. Capps was just outrighted to AAA which means he was DFA and went unclaimed. However Tayron Gurrerro had a great ST and will be in our pen

• Dan Jennings released. Sign him for the pen and send O'Grady to rotation maybe?

Wouldnt mind it, but wouldnt care either way. He's a fairly average LHP. Lets make him manager though just to remember the good times when the previous Dan Jennings named himself manager.

My problem was not the particular deal we traded him in when we did end up trading him, my problem was with selling yet another asset at its lowest point. Not that the yankees would have done this, but that year where he was unbelievable we were talking about dealing him to them for guys like Judge or Greg Bird. It wasnt about what we got for him as a guy recovering from TJ and the delivery questions, it was about not trading him in a lost year when he was one of the best relievers in baseball and instead trading him when his value was lowest.

• Man the front office really fucked up not giving any of the available SP's a deal. Even if it meant giving a guy a major league deal just 1 competent pitcher would have really helped change the outlook of the rotation. With straily injured literally the only 2 guy I think we have currently who are locks for the rotation are Urena and Despaigne (think he's earned a spot already). We have to be waiting on final cuts to see who we can claim off waivers, right? Also with JT out we have a need for a backup catcher as well as Wallach was fairly terrible in spring training and Telis is fairly terrible in general. Rupp would be a great addition but i think he wont get to us in the waivers process given his decent bat and our waiver positioning. He really reminds me of what Napoli was in his angels days though as a lefty masher at the C position. Could just be the way he looks though given that he's bigger and has a large beard.

After looking into him I would love to get him even more. Over the last 3 years he has a .909 OPS against lefties in 225 ab's. Would be a solid backup or if we trade JT a solid platoon guy going forward. IF anything a good guy to take a bet on as we continue to churn the roster and look for talent.

• Random thought that popped into my head: Reds rotation might consist of Nicolino, Castillo, and Desclafani. Could you fill out close to a 25 man roster of guys who are still under team control who we gave up on/gave up in trades?

RP- Hand, Jennings, Hatcher, Austin Brice, Capps, Esch, Koehler, Paddack, Sam Dyson, .
SP- Nicolino, Castillo, Desclafani, Heaney, Trevor Williams, Martes

Lineup- Barnes, Kike, Yelich, Stanton, Ozuna, Mark Canha, Marisnick, Moran

Half of them stink and some of them were traded for each other in a few cases, but still just an example of how much talent we've traded that was under team control while in so many of those cases getting little to nothing in return.

• Chris O Grady and Caleb Smith reportedly make the 25 man roster to start the year. Not sure about the rotation though because i dont think the team is even sure about the rotation yet because theyre waiting for other teams final cuts.

Ya they are on. Final spots are

UT-Mooney or Adames
RP(1 or 2 guys)-Jumbo/Guerra/DFA guy

Elieser made the team but they aren't sure if they wanna give him a rehab start or just put him on ML roster and throw Ex ST games till needed as #5 guy

They are looking hard at DFA guys(ARMS mostly) so wouldn't expect final roster till Wed.

the injuries really are not helping a team already in desperate need of guys to fill a 25 man roster for a few months.
