Urena's 2/1 K/W ratio and low K rate overall says he is destined for failure as a MLeaguer. There's just no ignoring the fact that those numbers just don't work. Richards, Meyer, Lopez, Gonzanlez, Peters and Neidert have more realistic chances at success.

I was at the game today.
The numbers weren't good for Urena, and when the Cardinals hit him, they hit him hard. In fact, Urena, after getting pulled, had to finish up with a bullpen session to get his pitches in for the day. He walked two, but I wouldn't say he was wild.
Tayron Guerrero towers over guys. He's a tall drink of water.
Derek Dietrich had a homer and a walk. He's in mid-season form.
Tazawa still makes me nervous.
I could be wrong but it appeared bullpen coach Dean Treanor played the role of pitching coach today. It looked like he was the one making mound visits early in the game, and he supervised Jose Urena's pregame throwing routine (not sure if he usually does that or if it's Juan Nieves). Nieves didn't even seem to enter the dugout until about halfway through the game...unless he had just left briefly and I didn't catch it. This would follow a previous game against St. Louis that was televised in which a younger coach was coaching first base in place of Perry Hill.
At least it was a nice afternoon.

Brinson and Alcantara, as theoretical cornerstone players, is the line in the sand. Brinson up is insane even if he is a top 3 OF in the organization. 6 weeks!!!!

They could draft someone theoretically in 21 that could replace him. But it is still a poor use of resources in a non-contending year, but maybe the idea is he is up 2 weeks, Prado is healthy, he goes down 6-7 weeks, and we're all good.

took the mets announcer 30 seconds to show he didnt do any preparation for the game today. Sounded like Keith Hernandez. Said that Peters went from rookie ball to AA to the big leagues last year and commented on how impressive that is. He was clearly just looking at his numbers from last year when Peters had a few rehab starts in the GCL.

Much of the roster is up in the air ... or should be. Bour, Realmuto, and Castro are set, although serious consideration should go to Castro at SS. For me at least, Rojas/Riddle as everyday SS is unthinkable. Dietrich at 2B would allow another OF bat in the lineup. For all the ridicule Galloway gets, he should get serious consideration for the Opening Day OF. All he's doing is leading the team in hitting and providing great defense and baserunning. Brinson needs months at AAA in my mind. He's 0 for the spring in SB attempts and the K's are too frequent. Shuck is the guy who has earned a chance. Maybin has disproven himself over a ten-year career, but they gave him the money. Lee and Sierra need AAA time as well. Anderson's ceiling looks like mediocrity, but options are few (other than Dietrich). Cooper has been disappointing. Van Slyke was great for one game.
The projected rotation includes Conley, Alcantara and Despaigne right now. I would go with other options for all three. Richards, Caleb Smith, Meyer and Lopez will all be starters by mid-summer - why not just make the move now?
