Nothing great but wouldn't be surprising to see him trade for a 25-26 ML arm who needs a change too. He's controllable and alot of teams think he would do great in the pen

I still like his potential as a back of the rotation guy. I wouldnt mind seeing him dealt if he was really that bad to the coaching staff, but id like to see us give him one more chance this year in the rotation, especially given that we arent exactly overflowing with rotation candidates anyways.

That potential team i listed though, obviously assuming a lot, is a really good looking start to a rebuild. Then you invest heavily in the draft and IFA for a few years in a row and we're a contender.

I really like this Harmony guy. Welcome aboard!

He balances out some of fish16’s repetition and tjfla’s jibberish.

So we HAVE to move the NL MVP because we need to rebuild but DON’T WORRY ABOUT CHEN WHO MAKES A FUCK TON OF MONEY to pitch 33 innings.

Your 17 paragraph reply should be fun.

Yup. You dont worry about Chen because all he's gonna do is severely diminish what you get in any Ozuna trade. And we have to move the NL MVP because the team desperately needs to rebuild, he wants no part of a rebuild, and his value will never be higher.

You will get nothing for chen unless you give up another asset and eat most of his money. With the rebuild we will have a fairly low payroll regardless. They need to do the rebuild right and get as much talent as possible, and you dont use Chen to diminish your best asset's value.

            • Some tjfla jibberish today

SF is already trying to get Jackie Bradley Jr just in case-The Giants are interested in acquiring Red Sox center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr., according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network

Like I was saying Miami likes some of what SF has-they just dont have enough however maybe we see a Jackie Bradley Jr,Rodriguez and prospects for Stanton then Bradley Jr to SF for even more ML Ready guys and prospects?

              • Just saw a rumor given by Phil Rogers from MLB Network of the Cards offering Reyes, Aledmys Diaz, Grichuk, and Alcantara for Stanton and Ziegler. That would be an incredible haul for us.

                • You know what else is an incredible haul?

                  Acquiring the NL MVP.

                  In St.Louis case, it’s a 7 Win upgrade.

yup. doesnt mean it wouldnt also be an incredible haul for a rebuilding team. i know its a crazy concept but there is a possibility of a deal making a ton of sense for both sides.

Also, STL is only in this position of being able to acquire Stanton because just how well run they are and how they are literally have to sell off pieces because of how many people they need to add on to their 40 man before the deadline. They literally have a problem of having too many players. They are probably the best drafting and player development team in baseball.

Havent heard that one but jump on that quick still think we want Flaherty instead of Reyes but Alcantara is a stud and the other 2 can help out now. Boston and St Louis are interested in a RP in a Stanton deal

If he goes to St Louis it will be a deal Stanton,RP and cash for 2 or 3 SP,1 OF and 1 or 2 others.(Names who the hell knows?) Havent heard Aledyms Diaz but I know they like SS Edmundo Sosa and low level guys. Tell them to keep Grichuk and take a younger OF and more prospects

                      - - - - - - - - - -

Rumors and all will be picking up starting today and already a few are out there.

Lets start with Stanton-he still only has 3 teams on his trade list however St Louis,Boston and SF are the Top 3. SF is trying hard to get prospects by trading Cueto or other ML players then flipping those prospects with Heliot Ramos and more for Stanton. Lose $ and get prospects then add Stanton's $.

SF has the inside track since they are on his list however they don't have what we want. If they can get the prospects then he could be on the way there. The thing with St Louis and Boston are they have what we want but Stanton still hasn't said he will go

Watch for talk of a NYY-Miami trade at the meetings but nothing major. NYY has to many guys for its 40 man and they are looking to trade. Don't be surprised if Denbo tries to get 1 or 2 of the guys he likes for IFA cash(Not sure how much NYY can still take but we have 1.74 to play with)

                      • Joel Sherman proposed this on Saturday:

                        3. Marlins get Christian Arroyo, Seth Corry from the Giants, and Ian Happ and Ben Zobrist from the Cubs; the Giants get Stanton; and the Cubs get Johnny Cueto.

For the Marlins, the best match would be the Cardinals and their deeper system. But Stanton has a no-trade clause and there is doubt if he would accept St. Louis. The Giants do not have a deep system plus they have that luxury tax concern, so they get rid of salary (Cueto is owed $87 million over four years) and re-direct Happ to the Marlins.

Chicago needs another starter and probably is not taking a Cueto risk unless it can get out of some money (Zobrist is owed $28 million over the next two years). To get out of Stanton’s $290 million obligation, the Marlins have to absorb Zobrist and hope to spin him elsewhere.

Moving Stanton for the financially strapped Marlins is vital yet complicated. The length and value of the deal for a player who has had health problems in his prime is worrisome. His no-trade clause is a factor. Plus, J.D. Martinez is probably a better overall hitter and available just for cash in the free agent market, and no one, for example, would be surprised if traditionally fast-acting Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski tried to solve some of Boston’s power woes with a quick strike to land Martinez — which would take the Red Sox out of play for Stanton.

Cubs need to kick in a top prospect in that deal.

                          • Not sure what we would do with Zobrist(well trade him elsewhere) and Corry is way to young but ya thats what SF is trying to do. They know they are in the driver's seat if they can figure something out

Trade Cueto or something else and get prospects/young ML to add onto Ramos/Arroyo or whoever we like for Stanton

Cubs don't have any Top Prospects left. Some arms but nothing high end

                            • With the new rules I believe you don't have to wait a full year to trade draft picks; I wonder if Giants could include a PTBNL and with them having the #2 overall selection in the draft make that pick for us?

Asking and answering on Marlins questions as the team begins attempts to slash payroll:

                                • So what will the payrolls look like for the next few years?

According to someone with direct knowledge, new owners Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter told other owners during the application process that their payroll projection is not only $90 million for the 2018 season, but $90 million for 2019 season as well.

There is a planned jump in 2020, but the amount will depend on how much the team can increase revenue.

                                • These new owners say they have creative ideas to increase revenue. But can they realistically?

According to sources, Sherman and Jeter are eyeballing at least four ways to increase revenue, but at least two of them seem shaky. Here’s what they’re banking on:

1)They believe the annual rights of their TV contract will jump dramatically from $20 million per year when the deal with Fox expires after 2020. One person who bid on the Marlins said bidders projected, after 2020, an annual increase to somewhere between $40 million and $70 million. But while an increase is expected, the amount will depend on whether the Marlins can find a legitimate bidder to challenge Fox. There isn’t one yet that has emerged, with Comcast having shown little interest in Marlins rights in the past.

2)Sherman and Jeter believe they will be able to sell naming rights for the stadium, which could command $5 million to $10 per year. This seems realistic.

3)The owners believe attendance will rise, partly because Jeter is more popular than Jeffrey Loria. That’s a questionable assumption if the team isn’t winning.

4)The owners believe they will increase revenue by making a stronger attempt to appeal to the Hispanic market than the past regime did. Whether that’s realistic, or how it would boost revenue, remains to be seen.

The Miami Marlins crossed another task off their offseason to-do list this week: Hire a new director of international operations.

Albert Gonzalez, a South Florida native who spent the past 12 years running the Marlins’ Dominican academy and scouting/player development efforts abroad, joined the Royals on Friday as assistant GM of international operations.

And, sources told the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Marlins have already made an external hire to replace Gonzalez, adding Wellington resident Fernando Seguignol as new director of international operations.

In Seguignol, a 42-year-old Panama native, the Marlins continue their recent theme of bringing in former Yankees.

He played in only five major league games with the club in 2003, but a decade prior joined New York as an international free agent. Gary Denbo, the Marlins’ vice president of player development and scouting, was a coach in the Yankees’ farm system at the time.
