I think if we were to have had pronounced failure with our logo, our team colors and our venue it'd be absolutely "out with the old, in with the new."
I think that most of the dislike here (and I think it's certainly the case with me) is that, if your favorite team doesn't keep a constant logo (we can't because we're now Miami, not Florida) or team colors, or a home stadium, at what point is the team abandoning its past rather than simply trying to move forward?
Keep something that reminds people that they are the Marlins that won two titles, not a new team sharing the same name.

I don't know if he's ignoring the team's past, but I like that the stadium is forward looking. Sure, it could be dated 5 years after it opens, but I like that it's not exactly the same as every stadium built in the last decade.
And it seems like most of the dislike here is "Lol he likes art and is talking about art and sports isn't art, art is gay."
I think you need to play up the two world series titles, but other than that, there's not a ton of history to honor here. It's not like we have a Roberto Clemente that we can honor, or something. Hell, we don't even have a Walter Johnson from 80 years ago that we can build a link to the past with. There really isn't much good history here aside from the two world Series. Play that up huge, but other than that, our history isn't exactly something you want to celebrate. It's been a lot of posturing by various people in the organization, meeting city officials posturing, and then everyone gets mad, and then we trade all of our good players, and then we threaten to move to San Antonio.
In my opinion, looking forward is the right way to go with this stadium. I would rather not completely redesign the uniforms (I really like our currents), but it's foolish to expect them not to. It happens.poop

I agree. I like the look forward approach. Other than two glorious World Series, there is a lot I'd like to forget about. The fact that I have to pinch myself everyday so I can really believe we are going to get a climate controlled baseball facility speaks volumes to our foregettable past.
Swift, for someone as critical of the organization as yourself, I'm suprised you don't want the teams entire history (sans two championships) wiped off the face of the earth.

My criticism is not "art is gay," I just don't see how putting a bunch of modern art monuments in a baseball stadium is on point. In my opinion, that shouldn't be the centerpiece of a stadium, and judging by that interview, that's what he's pushing for.

I've been saying this since day one. This is going to be a gaudy stadium that will look passe and obsolete within minutes after its built, because whenever people try to make things look "modern," the result is just a timestamped piece of crap.
I wouldn't be surprised if our new uniforms our glittering silver unitards with holographic logos. "And now, we're proud to introduce the starting lineup for your 2012 Miami Doctor Evils!"

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here. I mean, the structural designs are absolutely awesome. I can deal with no Teal. I can deal with blue seats. I agree with Swift, just don't make the new logo completely ugly and at least pay respect to the first 20 years of the organization in some regard throughout the park. How about "art" of Sheffield (first HOF?) and Conine around the park. Or the concourses like US Celluar with the Marlins through the years on the walls. And that's it. We can all bitch about ART and other news clips here and there, but when we are all there April 2012. We're all going to LOVE it as long as it's not retarded. I have a hard time believing it's going to be retarded.
End game though, I just want a $70 million plus payroll and consistently making baseball decisions of getting better instead of 'replicating performances and hoping for a breakout to contend.' I can deal with it until 2012, but the nickel and diming better fucking end.
