Yeah because this board isn't nit-picky about anything.

I hear the Blue Jays board is less nit-picky.

        Good one, Erick.

I'm just asking and not being sarcastic:

Why are they spending $2.75 at 3rd base?

It's sort of polish-the-turd esque, right?

2013 is a disaster. Why throw $$$ at the disaster?

I'm aware 2.75 mil is not outrageous in baseball land but....

          1. Why not 3B? It was clearly the weakest position on the roster.

          2. Sure, I guess that's fair to say in a sense.

          3. Because when you have a disaster, you don't just keep it a disaster forever. Polanco has basically only had one bad year. If Polanco's 2012 would've been what he did in 2011, he would've gotten Jeff Keppinger's contract (maybe more money since he's a more proven player).

The team is not good. Polanco is a stopgap. If he plays well as he's done for most of his career, we'll probably get some young players for him at the trade deadline. If he doesn't play well, it's only a 1-year deal.

Heading into Opening Day, we now have a 3B who's way better than Kevin Kouzmanoff.

According to Stark,he gets another 125,000 for 100 and 125,000 if he plays 120 games(So possible 3 mil) AND we tried to get Olt,Castellanos,Gyorko before signing him

Carlos Lee trade looks worse everyday

Pay someone the minimum to play 3B.

              Not making the playoffs.

              Save the money to

SIGN STANTON TO A FUCKING LONG TERM DEAL

Do SOMETHING to keep the 833 remaining fans.

I'm not really sure how Jeff Keppinger got Jeff Keppinger's contract.

Who did you want at the minimum to play 3B? They tried to acquire prospects; they couldn't.

Not making the playoffs means you shouldn't sign stopgaps, ever? Why did the Astros just sign Carlos Pena and Jose Veras? Stupid, huh? Every team still signs guys to fill out needs on the team if possible. I don't see the big deal.

This deal is not preventing the team from signing Stanton long-term. You sound like one of those fans who's just going to hate everything the team does no matter what because they traded all your favorite players to Toronto after winning 69 games last year.

Because the market for 3B was horrendous probably.

Wonder how long we keep Carlos Rodon in the minors when we draft him in 2 years?

While Polanco is a decent signing, there is no way he should get 3 million dollars. It's only a 1 yr deal cause they are hoping Cox is ready sooner than later.

The nothing we're paying Polanco isn't going to make a difference in keeping Stanton.

Hopefully the idea is that he goes back to his pre-2012 form and we can move him for something useful longterm. Maybe one of those sandwich picks we got for Gaby.

There's no down side and a teeny bit of upside. Why the hell not?

Maybe. He was signed to be a bench player though. Makes it all the more peculiar.

I think they signed him to be their starting 3B. I don't know who else it could possibly be if not him. Brent Morel?

Shitty teams get vet guys hoping to trade them at the deadline for younger guys who they can rebuild with. The issue with us is that we won't do that,if Polanco hit 300 with 30 doubles by the trade deadline we will ask for a Top Prospect in return and nothing will happen or the FO will start talking extension .Houston signed Veras and when he has an 1.20 ERA at the deadline they will flip him for guys who could do something when they are good

The reason why Keppinger got that deal is because a Playoff contending team needs a utility guy and is willing to pay for 1(Starting at 3B now but eventually will play UT)

The Marlins don't have a history of doing what you said so I really don't get this post.

Not to mention that Jose Veras probably isn't putting up that ERA and utility guys like Keppinger shouldn't be worth 3/12.

I'm guessing they didn't sign the 37-year-old Placido Polanco, hoping they could extend him if he hits .300 with 30 2B's, only making him more expensive heading into next year at the age of 38.

This is why certain people don't like you on here.

Damn it lol, brain fart. I had Ty Wiggington on my head(who himself got a questionable contract).
