The reason they might not be drawing in August if they win is because South Florida fans suck.
Did they draw in August last year with these apparently popular group of players?

Did they draw in August the last time they won the World Series? August isn't fun yet. October would be fun. South Florida fans like fun times because "there's too much to do down here more fun than going to a baseball game in August." How many times have you heard a line like that?
I am literally amazed at any apologist perspective for these guys and how this trade was the "right" or "understandable" decision because they weren't going to win a world series. What they should have done is realized this was not going to be an overnight fix after 7 seasons of abuse and still disapproval from 1998 (even if it wasn't them). This is the worst new stadium opening in the history of sports. The stadium was supposed to change everything, it changed nothing but Loria's wallet. No one is going to put more money into it if they have a choice. You have battered wife syndrome. I am sure this all makes sense in your head, but back in reality, we know you didn't fall down those stairs.
I really hope they are over .500 in August. No one is going to be there. No one is going to support these clowns until they do multiple things to earn people's trust. I don't know how they can do it, but winning is not going to be enough. I do know that.

Also pretty amazing this didn't become industry standard after the Delgado deal because you know they all talk.

That in itself is written proof that says, we ain't riding this contract out. It's how the Marlins roll.
I think this "verbal assurances" thing is the only thing I am not angry about. If it was a deal point important to the player, put it in the contract or don't sign. If not, shut up.
They are dicks for trading them (and not reinvesting in free agency/Stanton which would mitigate it in my eyes), but not because someone said yea we won't trade you.

What if the front office told Buehrle, "We think we've built a really great team that's going to be successful for years to come. As standard policy, we never include no-trade clauses. But, if this team performs like we expect it to, we don't see any reason why you won't stay in a Marlins uniform for many years."?
Isn't it possible that, after a whole year has passed, Buehrle only really remembers the gist of that conversation and took it to mean he'd be here for a while? In my example, the Marlins never directly said, "Oh, by the way, if we lose a lot of games, all bets are off." But, that thought is perfectly consistent with what I had them say.
Less knee jerk. More critical thinking.
