i didnt realize max meyer was accumulating mlb service time. Kind of stinks, but whatever. Not like sixto is ever going to become something but they got lucky with him as they sent him to AAA right before spring ended in 2021 and then he has been on the IL since so i think he hasnt accumulated a day of service time since. Max actually has potential and sixto is done in my opinion so that stinks, but theyve gotten the other end of the spectrum before with long term injuries so it's hard to complain.

Sixto is OOO so it is bullpen or bust for him. Maybe no one would claim him and he accepts an assignment.

Circle July for sure for Max, assuming health and he doesn't have atrocious AAA numbers

Sixto is fucking done, he came back fat, throwing 86 mph fastball in one in inning at AA, and then disappeared again, I wasn't with fish16 completely on the Sixto is done train, but I saw that, and there's no denying at this point.

That’s how long it’s been since there was a home playoff game for the Marlins.

his rehab outing was just like every single video that has come out for years. He cant throw full speed because of his shoulder. he has missed 3 full years. 3!!!! he;s not just going to add back that 10-15 mph that he missed after 3 full years of rehab. he is done. the shimmy after throwing a fucking 85 mph fastball was absurd. he came into spring in shape, and then managed to gain a ton of weight right back when rehabbing.

They need 1500 PA and 150 innings, or 250 innings if Sandy is hurt. It's pretty do able IMO but they will lose 85-90 if they cheap out/don't do it
Kind of didn't realize how old Burger was.

Luzardo would be cool, but honestly, I don't see them doing another big SP extension, and I'd be wary too as Luzardo just finally had his first full solid season.

I have a different perspective here. I think that's a reason to sign him before he explodes further. This is similar to Sandy where they thank god did the extension before the Cy Young came.

I am a full believer in him and next year is his age 26 season so he's the right age to buyout for 5/6 years and he gets to hit peak free agency at 30/31 which is what the agent wants. I wouldn't want too long here. I bet they can get him for like 5/$65-70m right now with a 6th year option to make it 6/$90m+. For perspective, Pablo is making $80m those same seasons so this is very respectful that Luzardo broke out earlier in his career than Pablo so he should be paid more, with the caveat he is younger so the last year is an option. I do think there is a hometown pull here as well for Luzardo to sign it. How can a pitcher with arm surgeries turn that kind of money down when he's looking at maybe $6m bucks in arbitration this year, and it's a deal for the Marlins to secure a pitcher like him so this is exactly what a "poor" franchise should do. It is the only way they will ever win. If they don't do this, frankly he will be traded just like Pablo. That might be OK since Sandy, Eury, Cabrera, Garrett, and Max/Weathers/Fulton/Rogers may still be a great rotation, but at some point what are you doing as Luzardo is just totally awesome? Are we getting Gunnar Henderson or Jackson Holliday back here as frankly that's the level of ask here (among other players involved). I mean sign me up for that, but I'm not sure Luzardo is the guy they should be trading.

You then give Eury a Hunter Greene kind of deal (6/$53m) and tac on two expensive club options on the back end of that so he too, can get to that $80-100m range the same as Luzardo and Pablo if he fully makes it. If they did a 6+2 options, Eury could be a FA at 28 and his agent is drooling at that notion already if he can secure the kid over $50m bucks and get a shot at a 7-10 year free agency deal. Same thing here, the Marlins are going to struggle to pay him in arbitration if he goes full ace so they have to do this to protect their financial future in 4 years. Or he just gets too expensive - like a Juan Soto - and just has to be moved to a prime contender looking to spend as what team can deal with $20m arbitration tenders at the Marlins payroll levels.

It goes to the team building here. This would be smart and cheap business, and if they don't do it, it speaks volumes. We can add Arraez here. I think Jazz and Scott are more aspirational, but Luzardo and Arraez gotta get done IMO or the Marlins are just cheapskate losers and in for a world of hurt. Eury they can probably wait till the 2024 offseason but that is it. It's playing with fire though if he is in fact this good and goes Fernandez 2013/2016 levels, but he is still real young so I get that one if they want to wait to see what happens another year.

Anyways, yea Burger is old. He's a year to year. Opportunity is ripe for Luzardo.

I think the WC round should be 1- 2 - game 1 in the lesser seed, game 2/3 in the higher seed, so that each team gets at least a single playoff game.

                          Sigh.

1,500 PA and 250 IP from outside organization. Let’s go Kim.

How many days until Lee wants to trade Luzardo for Cartaya, Busch, Pages, and a RHP reliever?

I’m just glad the season is over so we can get the affable wild take Lee Stone back instead of the dour doom and gloom Lee Stone.

After watching the Phillies win a bullpen game against Strider in Atlanta and the DBacks murdering the Dodgers in LA, you can’t help but wonder more about how unfortunate the Marlins were to win the #5 seed instead of the #6

awesome to see pablo throwing 2 great playoff games so far. the very rare win win trade for both teams. didnt think his shoulder would hold up, but he has been great this year.
