I mean, I don't think he should be making a decision on it and I've said as much. But if he is it shouldn't involve "two independent baseball people"

Both teams wanna make this happen and until MLB makes "rules" on trades, stuff like this will keep happening. The real problem is that we have done this plenty of times before,if Kansas City/Minnesota/Seattle would have done this if would be a team wants to rebuild and get younger
The Marlins have done this twice before in much more epic blowup fashion, more than any other franchise in the history of baseball, and after much grandstanding with a new stadium and rebranding and how everything is going to change, are trading a cornerstone SS, very valuable SP, and a useful Bonifacio, and dumping payroll to the $30 million range once Nolasco is jettisoned next. They were gonna be bottom 6-7 in payroll as is, now they will be the bottom and twice as low as the next closest team.
Its not even comparable to any other franchise "rebuilding." There is not faith with these clowns there is a plan and they will actually build a winner. They had good players. They were good and could have built around them with a mid range payroll.
There is just pocketing rev sharing and thanks for the stadium.
These guys are fucking clowns. There is nothing to compare this too.
I hope Selig shoves this down their fucking throats and begins the internal undermining campaign to get them to sell.

I mean, the trade would be getting "reviewed" because more than 1 million dollars is being exchanged. But anything more than normal is ridiculous and it sets a terrible precedent like I said before. Did he veto the Halladay for nobody trade? The Red Sox to Dodgers deal?Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

Take away the salary and Buehrle is worth more than this.
The whole trade is a salary dump. I don't mind it, personally, because they were mostly bad salaries, but it's a salary dump. And they should re-invest at least some of the money. If they don't, it's a joke.
If Toronto didn't send Henderson Alvarez,Buerhle would have stayed. U guys realize that Alvarez is a 22 yr old SP who has pitched the last 2 years in the majors right? He is not some 22 yr old who pitched in AA and came up for a start one time
The 2014 Rotation
?(Who knows)
Alvarez
Turner
Fernandez
?(Hand,Eovaldi,Koelher)
Reyes was the only part that was an acutally salary dump, the rest of it was excellent baseball value

How cheap could they possibly get? He's only making 5 million and they're not going to find a better 3B than him. They still have to put a team on the field, I would imagine.
What they should do now is probably trade/sign some guys to similar contracts like Escobar's to make the team look respectable at least.
To answer the bold, they still have $16 million to shed with Nolasco and Escobar. They are around $43 right now with payments going out (Bell, Ozzie, $4 mil to toronto, etc), so they can get really close to $30 ditching most of Nolasco and Escobar. That's where I expect this is going.
Clear the decks, draw 1 million people, revenue sharing, profit

If there's a ruling it's on whether this is a pattern of destructive behavior or whether this will ruin the Miami market forever, not whether it's a "fair" video game trade.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.
