  • I still don't get why you think Hernandez is better than I think. His secondary pitches are mediocre and his fastball sits in the high 80s with no movement. His ERA, xERA, FIP, and xFIP last year at age 26 was.

He is a guy this fan base loves and I just dont get it.

Also I don't see how you can say Alcantra underachieving in his K rate. It was the best of his career and still nothing great. His drop in BBs would be a much better argument. And his expected outcomes are not "top 3 in baseball". He pitched like a decent 2nd starter until the last month of the year and had a great final stretch.

I don’t have the time to dig through the last 4 years of your posts. I’ll do my best to point them out moving forward.

Again, to you they won’t sound outrageous. Only to everyone else.

That's a several WAR offensive improvement by itselfQUOTE]

        We’ll that didn’t take long.

Being that every NL team now goes from having pitchers hit to having the DH, this is outrageous because it’s completely meaningless.

But at least we know now that the Marlins will have a several WAR improvement (just like every other NL team)

        • Frisaro mentioned Marlins hitters have walked 7 times in 4 games.

Didn't they already have his rights for that long anyway, though?

Yes, but locking him in for 2 years of arbitration (he has 2 more after that) to me makes it even more difficult to acquire him, as that’s extra ammo on the Pirates side (“oh we have him locked up at 6.5M for the next 2 years if he breaks out for you, you should send a better prospect”) vs what it was before of not having even settled arbitration yet.

                  • That was pure stupidity.

                    • Really a shame that Bleday wasn't traded in the offseason. Signing Soler and Garcia pretty much shut down a realistic path to the majors for JJ. Burdick is the one with a shot at the majors. Speaking of Soler and Garcia, how many of you would have signed those guys? Both were way under water with those contracts the moment they were signed.

I think most here are pretty much in agreement those signings were at the very least disappointing.

soler's is fine. he will pick it up and likely opt out after this year but the garcia signing was clearly stupid from the time it was signed. the amount of years was just completely unnecessary.

Burdick has definitely surpassed Bleday. He will be up here before the end of the year if there is an opportunity or injury.

                          • Soler makes $15 million next year if he doesn’t opt out. I don’t think him opting out is such a slam dunk.

                            • Certainly not a slam dunk. More like a half-court shot ... while blindfolded. With both Soler and Garcia, their contracts made them wealthy for life and very possibly killed their motivation.

                              • both garcia and soler have made about 50 million each prior to these contracts. They arent without motivation, they are without a representative sample size. its been 9 games for Soler and 6 for garcia.
