  • Complain to Baseball America, not me. Combine what they said with what his numbers were and you have a player who is likely to succeed. Yep, he went to college for four years and he's a little older. The fact that Baltimore wanted him speaks volumes.

the orioles have lost at least 108 games in each of the last 3 full seasons. That trade was for the comp pick and guerrero as a young flier. Velez is, in reality, a non prospect long term bullpen arm.

They gotta keep Jackson to preserve catchers for today, but absolutely on the other two. Seems strange. However, the Marlins have a type with pitchers (big arm, let it rip) and Neidert isn't that. I think we can trust their arm evaluation. They have really done an exceptional job with pitchers last few years, including arms have effectively turned into Henry, Lewin, Jazz, Sanchez, and DLC.

Everything is arms. Hopefully Watson/Bleday/Burdick break the streak.

        • they are still missing a shut down closer (I hope they go with bender), but the bullpen depth is decent. Bleier, Scott, Sulser, Floro when healthy, Bass, Bender, Pop, head and okert.

I think Henry and Fortes are better than him as a backup option and I don't see anyone claiming jackson as opposed to the likelihood someone claims neidert but ultimately I agree, they know these guys more than most. I would have just liked to have seen how neidert looked as a pure reliever for a little bit because there were reports it allowed him to throw mid 90's but I'm not going to be upset he's gone. They have enough other bullpen depth similar to him.

            • I hope they dont go with scott AND holloway in the bullpen at the same time. This bullpen is only big enough for 1 guy who has no idea where the ball is going when it leaves his hand.

Baltimore has a very good farm and the FO is playing the long game. I wouldn't consider them stupid at all.

I'm confused why they didn't wait until the deadline though, but I suppose they like the comp-pick and figured effectively guys 20, 25, 30, and PTBNL in a good Marlins system is what they'd get at the deadline anyways. And they save $400k by moving Scott. As long as the PTBNL doesn't hurt, this is good for the Marlins for sure.

Bender, Sulser, Bass, Pop, Head, Armstrong

That's what I'm thinking. Pop hasn't had a great spring though, so maybe Poteet beats him, Head, or Armstrong, and then it shuffles when Floro is back. I don't think Holloway is an option.

                  • jesus sanchez is the starting CF according to Heyman.

So looks like the lineup moving forward will be something like:

                    C- Stallings
                    1b- Aguilar
                    2b- Jazz
                    SS- Rojas
                    3b- Wendle
                    LF/RF-Anderson/Garcia
                    CF- Sanchez
                    LF/RF- Garcia
                    DH- Soler

Bench- Backup C, Astudillo, Quinn, berti, cooper

                    • Marlins 16th best bullpen (includes the trade) - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2022-pos...lpen-no-16-30/. Very low SP (Meyer, Sixto, Cabrera) innings and close to 150 IP of slop from Armstrong, Nance, Poteet, and gang. They are selling Floro, Bender, Sulser, and Bleier very short from last year so this group is likely better, especially with SP trickle ups from AAA.

The average marlins position player ranking was also 16th. Pretty damn middle of the pack over 10 position groups.... and SP is next likely tomorrow.

They really need a star CF to close this out and bank on youth breakouts.

Once rosters shrink, kick off a catcher and Quinn, add a stud CF, and this is a great depth chart with Lewin, Bleday/Burdick, DLC, Devers, and Jackson/Fortes in AAA.

It really is the missing piece. Maybe Sanchez surprises.

                        • I'd cut back on Rojas playing time, giving Wendle the big part of a platoon.

if their lineup can be middle of the pack, this is a playoff team barring injuries wiping out 3 rotation pieces.

roman quinn apparently not making the team and pop and Campbell were optioned to triple a.
