Pretty lame name, but if it means we're going to spend next year in Free Agency then I don't care.

I found this Forbes article that says the Mets have the highest at 20M/ year ($400M over 20 years), Oracle Park (SF) is reportedly second at $15-17.5/year.
It also says that the White Sox are only getting $2.04M/year over 10 years, so we got 5 times that on an unknown term, though.
I too saw articles point out the Braves were among the highest at $10M.....I'm not sure where Forbes got their numbers from - the Braves have to publicly disclose their books, though, so we know that $10M/year is right.

Understand about not spending this year but this team better have a 100 million dollar payroll starting in 2022. No excusesLast edited by fauowls44; 03-31-2021, 07:14 AM.

Barry Jackson disputes that report by Frisaro that the naming rights deal is in the $10 million range. Instead, he says that it is more in line with recent MLB deals, mentioning that the Brewers signed a deal for $4 million a year in 2019. Also, the Pirates and Padres recently signed extensions on their deals that had been paying them $1.5 and $3 million. The financial terms on those deals are unknown, but it seems likely the Marlins deal would fall somewhere in the $4-5 million range annually. Still, a huge improvement over the $0 they had been getting.

predictions time- best case, worst case, and expectation
Best case- 92-70- no pitchers get injured, we have a top 5 rotation in the league, jazz breaks out and leads an above average offense, and we make the wild card
Worst case- 72-90- division is too good, a pitcher or two gets injured, the young bats don't progress, and the bullpen falters
Expectation-85-77- good but a year away, pitching hold together and the depth keeps us in the mix till late, lineup is one year away missing one more impact bat but we still hang tough till the end. I think we are a really good darkhorse as a contender this year.

i am so fucking excited for opening day. haven't had this kind of optimistic outlook on this franchise since 2004. i really think we are a sleeper contender this year if we stay healthy and jazz shows his dynamic ability out of the gate. I don't expect him to be an all-star this year but if he can be around .800 ops with peaks and valleys, we can realistically expect any and all of our position players outside of Alfaro to be around that mark. obviously, some will struggle potentially but if you told me individually Dickerson, Duvall, Marte, Rojas, BA, cooper, or Aguilar along with Jazz were high 700's or higher I wouldn't be shocked. for this year, while we might not have that top-tier bat, I could easily see a scenario where we really use our depth of quality, if not spectacular hitters combined with our stud young pitching to really contend a year early.
