Wow, and Oakland is the team to give it to him. Oakland who is playing in a falling apart football stadium, that no longer houses a football team, can apparently afford a payroll $30 million higher than us.

They also have a TV deal that pays them $30 million more per season. That highlights how important it is that the Marlins get their TV deal completed soon. That’s a major source of revenue that the Marlins just don’t get right now.

The Rosenthal deal apparently includes deferred money but I haven’t seen how much.

Marlins were in on him at like 4/5 million. Actually isnt 1/11 they are paying him 3/3/5. He makes 3 million this year, gets another 3 million next year and 5 million in 2023. In other words Oakland will be paying him to play for another team the next 2 years!!

            Jeffress
            Clippard
            Robertson
            AJ
            Shane Greene
            Few vet SP

Marlins main issue is this. They trying to get guys on a Milb deal but most are getting that from contenders-we might have to wait till ST cuts to sign someone, We have been trying just hard to sign a 33 yr old who wants to win when u are bidding against NYM/LA

Used to be a closer for Miami.AJ Ramos

Most guys left are coming off injury/issues. Like said best option might be wait till APril and see who gets cut or has opt out. Philly/NYY/others sign like 10 to milb deals i bet if Marlins called with Milb deal(with 100% brought up in May) someone would take it

Alot of agents thought/still think MLB will have another taxi squad which is why u see alot of the vets signing with good teams. ML and others say it wont have the taxi squad this year

Oh...I thought he had signed a minor league deal somewhere. Must have been last year.

                  • You would think Greene or Clippard would sign for like $3 million with the chance to close here.

Well, you are the guy that defended Brinson up & down & all around, even though our eyes told us he was a bust....so....

your eyes told you he was a bust after two games because you're a cynical douchebag who just likes to hear himself complain

                        • mish reports cubs asked for misner, burdick, and mccambley for contreras. I'm ok not going for that though I would have tried to negotiate hard since that's not too far off. just give scott or Encarnacion instead of misner or burdick and then supplement that with a few lower level guys.

They're still paying him $11M, though, and "paying him to play for another team" just means deferring the payments, which anyone paying someone else would rather do if you can without interest.

I'm a big time Burdick guy, and I think Contreras is kind of a weenie-head, but still I would've had to have seriously considered that one.
