i agree but burdick seems to have such high remarks that id use misner at the big piece, along with Scott, and then use our lower level guys they like to complete the deal.

      • Lost in all the offseason news (ha!) is that much-maligned Joe Frisaro is no longer Miami's MLB.com beat reporter.

        • pretty telling of what baseball thinks of harold ramirez that he gets 26 teams down the line before the indians, who have the worst OF in baseball, decide to claim him.

I can't say I'm surprised, it does make you wonder though, how the f we got a decent prospect for Austin Dean last year? I mean by nobody's metric is Harold not at least a better player than Austin Dean.

Pretty telling? The last times I felt this way were the releases of Austin Nola and Jarlin Garcia. Tells me the Marlins have screwed up still again.and Harold will have a higher OPS than any member of the Marlins OF this season.

                That’s highly unlikely.

                • really like what ive heard regarding 2b. we arent going platoon and we will let jazz/isan to sink or swim. I want to get a good idea of what these guys are capable of and that's really hard in a platoon role even if it might make us better in the aggregate. I'd be interested to see what they would do if they both weren't lefties but still like it.

We're clearly going with the best available and that's the most interesting competition by far this spring. i still have high hopes for isan and a MI combo of him and Jazz would be really good if they both pan out

                  • also the more i hear about jazz, he's gonna be a fucking star and the face of the franchise along with sixto in 3-4 years. Bleday might be the consistent, middle of the order guy, but jazz is gonna be electric.

                    • also the bullpen seems pretty much set- Hoyt, Yimi, Cimber, Bass, Curtiss, Bleier, Detwiler, and floro. That seems pretty much set obviously barring injury with castano being the next up as a more 6th man/long reliever option. Be interesting to see if this changes at all but I like that group as a small market team. Seems like a solid group for very very cheap. i'd like a legit closing option but if we're gonna cheap out the bullpen isn't the worst place to do it. Clippard would have been my guy but I like that group and I think not only will we find 4-5 really good arms in that group, I think we have depth in terms of both young inexperienced prospects and even better prospects who might not make our top 5 SP guys when you think of Rogers, eventually cabrera, Garrett if his velocity returns, guzman, the awful in my opinion halloway, then you get to guys like eveld who I really liked, rule 5 guys like Campbell, always injured brigham, I like that mix to eventually settle on a quality if not spectacular bullpen.

Didn't you feel this way about Tyler Heineman last year?

Pop and Campbell have to be on the roster. Castano is likely going to AAA as a SP and #1 call up for SP unless they sign a vet

Yimi,Detwiler,Bass have NO option EVERYONE else has options so the BP roster wont be set all year.

                          BP should look like this

                          LR/6th SP-Campbell
                          LH-Bleier
                          LH-Detwiler
                          ST-Yimi
                          CL-Bass

                          60 Day-Pop

Everyone else will be shuttling up and down based on who is hot.

                          • SP is

                            Sandy
                            Sixto
                            Pablo
                            Elieser
                            Rogers

                            AAA
                            Castano
                            Neidert
                            Garrett
                            Poteet
                            Morimando
                            Cabrera-DL.

Marlins are still looking for arms-SP and RP. Milb deals tho!!!

AAA also has Guzman,Holloway,Madero who can be SP/RP and a full pen of guys. While AA has 3/4 SP who should be in AAA but likely will start in AA(Puckett/Reed/Roberson) We actually have tons of AAA pitching and since finally out of the PCL they can actually evaluate them

They have said this multiple times already this week. Expect guys to be sent down to AAA if they dont get a starting job. They dont want Castano/Neidert/Garrett sitting in the pen they want them stretched out to 5 or 6 innings fast same with Jazz and OF they want them getting regular AB's

Also I dont think Jerar/Devers and others stay in AAA but we could see guys start the year in AAA and then moved down once AA season starts. AAA starts in April while rest start in May

Yep. If Isan wins job then Jazz goes to AAA as a SS. If Jazz wins job then Isan goes to AAA as a 2B

AAA has Alvarez and Devers to play the other spot and Dunand at 3B

The AAA team might be more exicting then the ML team HAHA

                              C-Leon
                              1B-Lewin
                              2B-Alvarez/Devers
                              SS-Jazz
                              3B-Dunand
                              LF-Bleday/Brian Miller
                              CF-Monte
                              RF-Jesus
                              DH-Jerar

I like Heineman very much. He is now in Jupiter with St Louis, where he is listed #3 on the catching depth chart. Although he's had only a handful of major league at bats, his career minor league offensive numbers are certainly better than those of Wallach and Alfaro.
