I thought he would top out as a 4th OF, so I'm not going to act like this is a huge loss, but still it feels like we're undervaluing major league success.
it depends what they get for him. I like him as a backup OF but its not a huge loss and he doesn't really have any plus tool whatsoever. If they make use of the asset the right way and get similar to what they got for Austin Dean in a Diowill Burgos type potential upside guy that's the right way to go about continuing to build. This surplus at the OF position especially has been clear to us for a few years now and this was inevitable. The key now is how they handle the surplus. Cant just get rid of guys for nothing, need to either get a quality RP arm or some sort of lower level high upside guy to continue to re-stock the organization once this current crop of talent graduates to the majors.

Theres gonna be a lot more of these types of moves in the next year or so, there is just too much OF talent in the upper minors to get around these types of moves. it's just a matter of how they handle the asset to help us in the bullpen now or for lower level prospect depth for the future.

    • Ng has quietly built a low key but super solid pen, and they've managed to do it differently than last year where this years pen is actually under team control for a few years as opposed to guys like Boxberger and kintzler who were free agents to be. we should definitely be able to find a group of 7-8 guys who collectively form a really nice and deep bullpen.

I think it's deep, but will probably end up being mediocre to bad when compared to other major league pens this season. There's no lockdown guy in this pen. Atlanta had 4 or 5 lockdown guys, it's not a playoff caliber pen. Is it improved from last year's? Sure, but considering their lack of a payroll so much more could've been done.

So you did get the love for Harold but you just didn’t realize it.

i guess it takes more than merely hustling for me to love a guy. that should be something every player does consistently on a big league team.

            • Don Mattingly just said that they are going with Alfaro this year. I’m annoyed they aren’t going to get Contreras here.

I’m sure it had nothing to do with spending money

agreed. there is no excuse not to get him. We have everything they could possibly want in the minors and it wouldn't impact us long term with the SP and OF depth we have and the few interesting super young guys we've signed the last few years. a complete missed opportunity.

There is 1 excuse...the Cubs don’t want to trade him yet.

                    • tatis gets 300+ million over 14 years. Unreal. IDK who Acuna and Albies agents are but they need to be fired. Especially Albies. How in the fuck do you accept a 9 year 45 million deal?

Asking price was/is crazy in Miami eyes. Reportedly they asked for Garrett/Burdick and more

Burdick is the guy to watch this year!! Miami sees him as 2022 ML LF and every team we have talked to has asked for him in the deal

Marlins have been trying to move Ramirez to no avail. This should speed up the process. They got a ton more than they ever could have expected when they signed him. Should be a taker with the DFA. Simply the odd man out.

Ya they were trying to move 1 of the OF(Coop/Brinson/Harold) but no deals they really liked. When I say deals they liked I mean they had offers for Cooper but nothing great

They prefer Harold's bat to Brinson but they like everything else about Brinson over Harold which is why kept him. Defense/Glove/All 3 spots/Speed

Likely get an Austin Dean type deal with a solid 18 yr old DSL lotto ticket

Everyone is moaning about this but June 2022 we could actually have a ML OF like this

                          LF-Burdick
                          CF-Marte/Monte
                          RF-Bleday/Jesus

                          with
                          VV/Brian Miller(Both 4th OF)/Jerar/Conine in AAA
                          Connor Scott/Misner/Thomas Jones/Colas in AA
                          Mesa Jr/#16 or #30 pick/Burgos in A Ball

9 OF in ML or AAA with 1 actually on 2021 ML roster. Sierra/Brinson/Cooper/Dickerson all gone

We got the #16/#30 picks in the draft. U could add 2 22 yr old college guys with talent and start them in Hi A. I personally hope we go C Henry Davis(22 yr old) and Best Arm that drops

The RP we got was elite last year and for years the rap on him has been a lack of control which he seemed to figure out last year. And he has multiple years of team control. Edwards was a decent prospect but he had no long term future here.

There's gonna be a lot more deals like this in the next year or so. It's part of the churn of the organization. you rebuild, get a bunch of depth, figure out which stick, then churn and flip for lower level guys and then continue the constant flow of organizational talent. There are only so many 40 man roster spots and you can only keep them in them minors for so long before they need to be added.
Pretty much and its only gonna get worse as guys run out of options and young kids getting added earlier than needed. This is why u see us getting 18 yr old DSL guys in trades instead of 22 yr old AA players. Depth is a blessing and a curse! In another year or 2 we are gonna be like TB and SD-trading solid guys cause no space and overpaying in trades(4/5 for 1)

Not guys here but casual fans want Bleday/Conine/Max Meyer/others called up now even tho not 100% ready however when u do that guys who are here get moved cause only can have 40 guys!!!

I still like the 12 SP for 5 spots. I know can never have enough pitching but damn

                              • We filled out our ST roster yesterday. Nope didnt sign anyone but since they needed more players added

                                VV
                                Barstad
                                Poteet
                                Eder
                                Zach King

NYY signed 20 vets while Miami has 20 guys who will top at AA this year

I really hope we sign a few vets cause alot of these kids are just there for experience/fill out lineup cards
