No one has seen most of these guys for 2 years. Look at the 2019 draft-guys barely played who knows what we got!! Burdick went from decent OF to being asked on in EVERY trade.

Of course not but u are missing what I am say again-NO one knows what the FO is gonna do. They gonna look at age and if they think guy is a SP or RP. U think they are gonna have a 26 yr old in Low A ball just because he has thrown 14 innings? No they likely will test the guy

I think Roberson has talent and should be a SP. I like him better than Holloway but maybe Miami sees a RP?

Guys could have learned pitches/damn Devers could be 200lbs now for all we know. 2 years!! No one has seen most these guys except for video

      • Lol we DFAd Harold

so we traded a recent 4th rounder and will likely lose a useful backup OF for a RP with 40 innings of experience because we didn’t want to spend money in FA. Cool

we have about 5 backups OF options. Harold will get us a lower level player in a trade, which is why I'm guessing he was DFA'd instead of a guy like brinson or sierra.

The RP we got was elite last year and for years the rap on him has been a lack of control which he seemed to figure out last year. And he has multiple years of team control. Edwards was a decent prospect but he had no long term future here.

There's gonna be a lot more deals like this in the next year or so. It's part of the churn of the organization. you rebuild, get a bunch of depth, figure out which stick, then churn and flip for lower level guys and then continue the constant flow of organizational talent. There are only so many 40 man roster spots and you can only keep them in them minors for so long before they need to be added.

The 15 relievers on the 40-Man isn't helping the situation.

            • ive never quite gotten the love for Harold within the fanbase. He was here for 1 year, had a barely above .700 OPS, didn't have plus power, didn't have plus speed, looked lost when he wasn't in a corner OF spot, poor plate discipline, etc. Hes a guy.

id rather throw a bunch of shit at the wall for cheap bullpen options than a bunch of mediocre 5th OF's who have no spot to start at all. If we throw 15 relievers with varying degrees of upside/potential that are under team control you can improve the ballclub more than a decent 5th OF. I think the strategy is to get as many potentially good bullpen arms as possible into big league camp and then to figure out in spring which 7-8 stick and hopefully you build an all around good bullpen with the 50% who are quality. I think their idea is to build an all around good bullpen as opposed to the one signing for the 9th inning for significant money while neglecting the rest of the pen.

He was significantly better than a guy that is still on the 40-Man and got way more opportunities, I don't think I need to speak his name.

                    • Harold's also 4 months younger than that guy.

                      • that guy also had an OPS of about .800 last year against lefties and, actually played last year. he also showed improvement down the stretch last year and has been graded much better defensively than Harold. Plus he has the pedigree of a top prospect and the obvious physical tools of a top prospect as well, as long ago as that might have been.

Marlins have been trying to move Ramirez to no avail. This should speed up the process. They got a ton more than they ever could have expected when they signed him. Should be a taker with the DFA. Simply the odd man out.

No one is surprised you didn’t get the love for Harold.

he was an overrated mediocre player who was fun to watch because he hustled his ass off and had a good attitude. he's still a mediocre OF with limited upside who missed all of last season due to injury and by midseason with a few months of minor league seasoning for the prospects would be option 8 or 9 in the OF for playing time behind Dickerson, Marte, Duvall, Monte, Brinson, Bleday, Jesus Sanchez

                              • I just feel like with all the young hitting prospects we've seen come up and struggle, and we've preached patience on this board, and rightfully so, but Harold comes up in 2019, and actually holds his own at 24 years of age, and then gets discarded before getting a chance to follow up on that season, it's a shame. I thought he would top out as a 4th OF, so I'm not going to act like this is a huge loss, but still it feels like we're undervaluing major league success.
