i have heard for several years now about Jordan Holloway. I've watched him for like 2 games last year and have followed his minor league trajectory and I can safely say there is no way that guy becomes a quality major league player. Maybe he pulls an Andrew miller and brad hand and all of a sudden learns how to throw strikes but I look at him as more like a sean west type (old name there) that just never can combine the great stuff with control

Trevor Rogers is the name to watch as Andrew Miller/Brad Hand. 2022 wouldnt be surprised if Rogers moved to CL role and looks great

Update on TV deal from Barry Jackson:

Marlins acquire RP Dylan Floro from Dodgers for Alex Vesia and a prospect. So that could be the final bullpen piece. He’s been a solid reliever for a few years now and is under team control through 2023.

The 2nd player going to LA is 2020 5th round pick Kyle Hurt. So they still need to open another roster spot for Duvall.

I like Vesia, so giving him up instead of spending money irks me. Floro is fine, as is Bass, but we still don't have that shutdown guy. Marlins continue to be cheap.

Fair criticism...but the one place I generally don’t mind being cheap is in the bullpen.

I don't mind being cheap in the bullpen either. If you're spending money in other areas, which we're not.

Agreed. I give them a bit of a pass because of the pandemic...but they do need to start spending going forward. Especially next year when they have basically nothing committed.

Still in on FA arms. SP too expensive still and have offers out on both RH and LHR but on MIlb deals. They thought the Floro deal was too good to pass up

Floro 3 years of control/3 solid years in LA and has 1 option left vs sign a FA for 1 year

The issue with the spending is if u spend tons u have to play them and they thing 2022 ALL the young guys are ready to roll

Im WITH u guys I hate that we are cheap but understand their view too. They expect guys ready especially cause of age and are gonna let them sink or swim-actually think they wanted to do it this year but with the lose Milb season they dont know what they have

Fair point...I would spend money locking up BA and perhaps Sandy/Pablo...and like you said, perhaps Marte.

Adding Floro, Bass, Detwiler, and Cimber to Yimi, Hoyt, and Bleier is good, but there isn't anyone in the pen with extensive 9th inning experience. With a number of former closers still out there, I would still like to see another arm added, even on a MiLB deal.

I mean, I totally get not spending money on the rotation and not giving a position player a long-term deal. I think we should've been in on Realmuto, but that was always a pipe dream. So if you're not spending money anywhere else, commit $20 million in 1 year deals, still have one of the lowest payrolls in the league, but have a bullpen you know is going to be reliable, which will allow you to save the young arms in your rotation a little bit who have never thrown the amount of innings they're going to be asked to throw this year.
