that 5th spot between neidert and rogers is such a hard choice for me. long term I like rogers better and think he has a real good possibility of being a mid rotation consistent arm but I'm just worried about wtf you do with neidert if he's not in the rotation for yet another year. i'd go with neidert to start, let him get at least a month of starts in there, see what we have and evaluate whether he's a piece moving forward. By doing that you evaluate a good prospect, allow rogers to get more minor league seasoning and maybe get an extra year of control out of him after we brought him up prematurely last year. could be a win win if they play it right but I don't think either would be a bad choice as the 5th guy.

I dont see why sixto especially, but also elieser, cant be expected to go more than 120 innings. 150+ is one thing but 120 isn't a super high bar to overcome. I think if we stay healthy in the rotation we are in the wild card hunt till the end of the season. While our lineup isn't spectacular i think there are a lot of really solid pieces, no real hole at all other than C if alfaro still stinks, and we have quality backup options at every position except C and 3b (prospect wise).

Elieser had 130 IP in 2019, so maybe go a little further this season.
I just think coming off the pandemic season, Innings pitched are going to be a constant concern. 120, 150, either way, you're going to have to find some rest spots for these guys.

the more i see of the 2nd base competition the more I think they will give it to Isan to at least start the year. Figure they will give him a month or 2 to prove himself, let jazz continue to finish off his minor league development and get back some service time, I think Jazz would really benefit from time at AAA considering he never played above AA before being thrown into the fire last year.

gonna need to see so much more obviously but alfaro has come out better at the plate thus far and Mattingly raved about his offseason, which is something to potentially be optimistic about because Mattingly doesn't seem to be one of those guys that just blindly praises every guy in spring. Alfaro behind the plate though is kind of awful framing pitches apparently, which shouldn't be a fucking thing if baseball joined the 21st century and just went with a automated strike zone instead of angel Hernandez trending on twitter every time he's behind the plate.
