Would the Nationals consider parting with Victor Robles? Just a year or two ago, he was an ellite prospect. In his 2019 rookie year, he homered 17 times and stole 28 bases. Last season he struggled. Is it a buy low opportunity for the Marlins? Could they get a cornerstone CF for the next several years?
With their veteran pitching staff, the Nationals figure to be in a go-for-it-now mode. Veterans Starling Marte and Jesus Aguilar would fill this year's CF and 1B spots in their lineup. Would those two plus an OF prospect or two be enough to steal away Robles? The Nats don't have a single OF among their top ten prospects. Perhaps Jesus Sanchez and Kam Misner would be intriguing to them.
Additionally, it seems like an ideal time to scoop up uber-prospect but blocked second baseman Vidal Brujan from Tampa Bay. This would require the Marlins giving up an arm like Pablo Lopez or Elieser Hernandez and more, but a team with Jazz, Robles and Brujan could be absolutely electric up the middle,, both offensively and defensively.Last edited by Lee Stone; 12-10-2020, 08:25 AM.

On Rule 5 draft, Marlins land Rays RHP Paul Campbell. On Wednesday's podcast for Locked on Marlins, host Aram Leighton listed Campbell as his dream pick while discounting the chances that he would be available by the time the Marlins had the chance to choose him.
In the AAA phase of the draft, the Marlins selected aptly named Jake Fishman, a lefty from the Blue Jays organization.Last edited by Lee Stone; 12-10-2020, 12:45 PM.

The Marlins traded a PTBNL to the DBacks for Rule 5 pick Zach Pop, a hard throwing righty bullpen arm. He was selected from the O's system after they got him as part of the Machado trade from the Dodgers. He had Tommy John surgery in May 2019. The roster is now at 40 again.

Obviously, Robles was untouchable after 2019. Jazz Chisholm was also untouchable at one time for Arizona. It's the type of thing that the Marlins should be gambling on IMO.

Marlins liked other arms better(RP) and got Pop too.
Fishman actually has some talent.Lefty with that funky delivery. Bice kid also has talent but lots of injuries

Marlins have interest in bringing back RP Brandon Kintzler. Feeling is mutual, Kintzler would strongly consider a return to Miami. Other teams in play. Not imminent - although this feels like something later this month that could get done. Per sources.

His miracle 2.22 ERA was just a mirage.

im fine with kintzler in a middle relief or 7th inning role for a small price. while i dont like his style of pitcher i think for the price we can get him at he has a track record of showing that his results out pace his peripherals which as a relief pitcher who pitches to contact after a while becomes something i actually believe in as an ability. I always prefer relievers who miss bats but its now been like 6 or 7 years out of 8 where his era has outperformed his advanced stats so i think maybe he is just incredibly effective at pitching to contact. i wouldnt mind him back for 2-3 million on a 1 year deal.

@CraigMish
Marlins GM Kim Ng spoke earlier today. Ng has said the club will pursue bullpen arms and I can confirm they are active on that front. Haven’t heard them in on any of the high(er) ticket pen FA’s. Bullpen pieces would best describe it.
