Perhaps Yimi Garcia could close next year, but I'd still keep Kintzler for either the 8th or 9th. IMO, bullpen locks for next year would be Bleier, Hoyt, Kintzler, and Garcia...and then figure out the rest.
5.00 xFIP in 2020. His ERA was a mirage. I’m fine if they move on.

Agree with the above. Not a fan of a Kintzler return at $4 million and certainly not as closer.

On the roster next year, he believes that Cooper will be the opening day 1st baseman and Lewin will start the year in AAA. He doesn't know what they will do with Aguilar if there is no DH, but believes that they will tender him a contract. He could be moved to an AL team if the DH goes away. Also, he said that the area that they will most likely look to upgrade in the offseason is the middle infield...either at the MLB level or prospects nearly ready in the minors. He says they will be looking to take another jump next year and doesn't think they are just going to count on Jazz or Isan going into the year. So that will be interesting to monitor. He also mentioned catcher, but said he could see them giving Alfaro another chance. His season really was derailed early, so who knows. I personally would be looking to upgrade there.

Another thing he mentioned is that the minor leagues will likely be geographically re-aligned for next year for all of baseball, with our AAA affiliate possibly being Jacksonville, AA somewhere else in Florida, and Jupiter remaining our High A team.
The MIF part is weird. That seems like an organizational strength righ now, and even if Isan/Jazz don’t work next year you have Berti to be a placeholder, and have maybe the best FA SS market we’ve ever seen coming next year. Unless they think they can trade for one of those guys early, I don’t really get that part.

Theres been some talk about Nelson Cruz on social media today. Mish quote tweeted something saying he was looking for a two year deal with the eyes emoji and some of Marlins twitter have been talking about signing him. Not sure he’s a need either, but who knows.

EDIT: Also, what the logic behind feeling like they need to do something at MIF, but being ok with giving Alfaro another chance?

if there is no DH nelson cruz makes no sense. if there is id give him a 2 year deal as fast as humanly possible.

            MIF on 40 next year

            Rojas
            Isan
            Jazz
            Berti
            Devers

Not really sure why they would be looking at MIF unless its a Lindor/Correa/Didi. They would like to make Miggy a UT guy soon. When say UT I mean play alot just all over the IF

As for Cruz not sure where he fits with or without DH as Aguilar/Coop/Sanchez/Lewin/Jerar around but they do want a power bat so maybe looking at all options?

Marlins wish list is Power Bat(ANY spot)/RP's/look to improve at C and MIF options. Got about 15-20 million

Also the Kintzler talk is they are looking at OTHER CL options and if they get 1 no chance they keep him around at 4million to pitch the 8th inning. They would like to resign Box too

The Rays really killed us even off the field, and it's the reason the Marlins will still be the Marlins (sigh). We just don't have their level of front office. I was told 2021 they are for sure "going for it" - yes I understand the pandemic but still just $15-20 million ? Your revenue will be 4 times that even with no one in the stands next year....

I know you're itching to bash the FO and the Marlins again, but don't base your bashing off stuff tj comes up with.

Had more but dont forget now paying Marte too now. They budgeted 100 million before all this,I have heard still around 80 million will all the Rona crap(u know I just come up with numbers tho)

Marte was like adding a FA for 12.5 million so they are really adding about 27.5-32 million

They are going for it but where would u like them to add? They got 4 SP who are damn good and probably will cost 5-7 million combined. They really only need a C,power bat and RP(About 5 guys). Benefit of have good young talent-only have to pay them 600K or LESS!!!

U can have 12 young guys on a 26 man roster and pay them 9 MILL.

Why sign a 36 yr old bat to a 2/30 deal when u got guys like Jesus/Jerar/Bleday/Lewin who would cost 2 million total and need AB's

We don't agree often, but we 100% agree that was a real douchebag move. I think it was even done a couple of days after the deal had been agreed to but it wasn't enough to kill the signing of the agreement.

we have officially picked up the club option on starling marte last night. Now offseason time. Need to add a legit starting C, maybe 1 low cost SP flier to give another options in case the young arms arent ready, and then really invest in the bullpen on a couple 2 year deals. Hendricks, alex colome, kirby yates, melancon all available amidst a bunch of othrs as well. I never really advocate for bullpen arms getting multi year deals but given where we are with so may guys under team control for the next few years it makes a ton of sense.

Drew Steckenrider and Brian Moran elected free agency; Brandon Leibrandt accepted his assignment to AAA (all per Rotoworld).

Gary Sanchez has always made, and will continue to make, a ton of sense for this team.

no thanks. the guy is 2 years from free agency and already in arbitration. If he comes here he wouldnt be surrounded by judge, stanton, lemaheiu, torres, voit, etc, wouldnt be in a little league ballpark, and he's been horrendous 2 out of the last 3 years. He's overrated and strikes me as someone who would immediately come here and be even worse.

Give me a free agent like wilson ramos or james mccann on a 1-2 year deal before we traded assets for a guy who has sucked 2 out of the last 3 years
