0% chance Devers is in the mix for the starting job next year.

I agree with this, I'd like to see some extensions too - don't need to break the bank for either, but it'll show the guys that are here that the team is willing to extend guys they see worth them, and to outside FAs that the team will extend guys.

Do we have money to spend though? I know other teams got hurt with lack of covid revenue, but so did we. Is it just because we take a lower percentage of our revenue from gate fees that we have "more" to spend?

Has to be added to 40 man so will get a shot. He is 2 years off but they have to add him-this is why u saw Devers on the taxi squad at end of the year. If Isan is crap and they wanna give Jazz a SS look Devers is next up

We have some-how much who knows because of this? They were thinking 100 million and are like 40-50 right now. I highly doubt they are going to spend 50 million but 15-20? Very possible

Marlins spending is coming from TV deals really or atleast thats the idea

Right - that's all I was getting at - if the plan was 100M before, it's probably not that now with covid impacts.

We still haven't heard anything about a potential TV deal.

Very true. I suspect we probably have a 75 million dollar budget now which is why I said between 15-20 million

The TV deals are what are gonna increase the budget-MLB just signed a crazy deal. We will get that cash plus more in revenue sharing.

Well, I'm feeling less bad about looking like we don't deserve to be on the same field as the Braves, because the Dodgers don't look like they do either.

Dodgers made a game out of it but, yes, I was thinking the same thing today, Nick.

How the regions have fared in the playoffs so far. Below is the record of the teams when they had to play teams from other divisions. (So not counting inter-division games, which was the entire Division Series, and then Rays-Blue Jays from the Wild Card Series.

                        West: 8-7
                        Central: 2-14
                        East: 11-0

That's right, the East teams have yet to lose a game in which they had to play a team from another division. Makes the Marlins season even a little more impressive.

                              Hill’s contract expired, right?

Yeah, his contract expired. Mish says they were unable to agree to terms on a new deal. I believe that Loria gave him a deal that paid him more than most knowing he wouldn’t have to pay him most of it.
