My issue with this trade Is it basically shows what the mind set of our FO is. They seem to believe we can still be contenders.

Yeah, he's nothing special these days, but he's certainly better than Gaby Sanchez at this point. So if Lee produces like a league average first baseman the rest of the year, it's a win. If not, well you didn't give up anything of real value.

In other words, another year has passed for Matt Dominguez, and, in his second stint at New Orleans, he has a .647 OPS. So it is not unreasonable to expect people to jump ship at some point.
FWIW, I still think he's going to be Pedro Feliz, which is fine.poop

Let's not rush to bury him because of a bad 29 games over the first half of the season, maybe?
It's funny to read your first post in this thread and then watch you disagree with me for the sake of playing devil's advocate.
This accomplishes nothing and there's no logical reason to believe this team is a contender at this point, anyway.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Source: #Astros covering all of Lee's salary but pro-rated portion of minimum. He is owed about $9 million for the rest of the season.

I don't think contention is a ridiculous notion. I don't fault the FO for thinking the same, and thn making a minor improvement in a super low risk deal to see what shakes out over the rest of July.Christian Yelich
