I'd have fired him years ago.

Since it seems like the theme yesterday was who gets the blame, and I missed most of it, I just wanted to throw that I'd put more blame on Beinfest.

I put the blame on players performing below their averages which is about as simple as it gets. No need to over think the room here.

This isn't close to true. We just figured that out a few months ago

Can't wait until the bats come alive and we start getting shelled.

Maybe I'm really really dumb, but if the lou explanation is what we're going on, a "C+" grade and looking down on teams like the Mets, Rockies, Orioles, White Sox and Padres, while looking up at the Rays, Brewers, Braves, Giants and D-Backs (organizations, that we should call either our equal or inferior in terms of spending going forward) is not where we want to be. Not even close.

Is there nothing between "woeful/failing miserably" and "where we want to be"?

Also, those teams ahead of us that you mentioned all pretty much outspent us by pretty significant margins over that time span in the draft.

                I'm with Swift.

If you're going to be the K-Mart of franchises you have to be very good at something to make up for your weaknesses. Being average in the draft and below average in FA spending is a recipe for disaster.

Is it funny that Beinfest's best team was a roster he was forced into?

A team with no money HAS to hit in the draft (like Tampa and Arizona).

You can't say "well, we're better than the inept big money guys" while ignoring your true "peers" successes.

Tampa spends a bunch of money in the draft and has drafted significantly higher on average.

We spend less money than almost everyone. I'll take average with that fact. That's not close to failing miserably..

Also, those scouts from the Cabrera trade are gone.

And when we draft high (Hermida, Allison, Skipworth, Dominguez) we still miss pretty spectacularly.

Beinfest's run 9 drafts. From those 9, we don't have a single first rounder as a starter, the only one on the roster is Coghlan (supplemental 1st). Extend it to the first three rounds and the only draft picks playing roles of consequence are Johnson and Stanton. That's inexcusable.

Take it a step further and the only first rounders still in the organization from that period are Coghlan, West, and the new guys who are still at low levels.

How has he been below average in FA spending? I don't really recall a bad FA signing, in large part because we rarely ever take a gamble in free agency. Either way, unless you're basing that on 17 Jose Reyes games and 2 Heath Bell meltdowns, I don't see how that's true at all.

                            Here's my issue.

If you think he's done a poor job, fine!

Just stop throwing words like "miserable" and "woeful" around. You can make your point without resorting to hyperbole.

I forgot only those rounds count.
