CHICAGO -- For the last 11 seasons, the White Sox enjoyed consistent success, durability and a genuine personality from Mark Buehrle.
Now, with free agency beckoning for the first time, the 32-year-old left-hander is willing to take those traits to any interested teams.
"We're excited about the process," agent Jeff Berry said. "We're not going to eliminate any team from consideration."
So despite the comfort and familiarity of pitching in Chicago for 12 seasons and being only five hours from his offseason home, Buehrle even is willing to explore National League teams, against which he has a lifetime 24-6 record and 3.32 ERA.
For Buehrle, there's the attraction of a new start in a league with no designated hitter while he and his family may have the opportunity to sample a lifestyle different from Chicago and the southwest suburb in which they have lived for several summers.
"Mark Buehrle's agent is lying," said some message board poster named Todd who has an amazing track record about being wrong about just about every-fucking-thing.
families only live in one place ever though
