  • I know JJ can't help it but man does he frustrate the shit out of me.

    • I'm worried, yes.

It's not just a vacation, if he was healthy, he'd pitch.

      • It sounds like he is healthy, but it would take awhile to get him back to full-strength so they're not bothering to do so, since the season is over.

        • Last I heard, JJ was "building up arm strength".

                • I like how on the Marlins website there is an article by Frisario saying it's "reported" that JJ is done. Do your fucking job. Don't speculate on other people's reports when you are the fucking beat writer for the Marlins. Fucking brutal.

Yeah, he's the worst of our beat writers by far. I'd rank JCR #1 (great articles, very informative and timely and is fantastic at answering fan questions both on Twitter and he does a weekly live Q&A). Capozzi is probably second, followed by the Herald guys (although it takes them FOREVER to get the post game wrap up in) and then Frisaro is at the bottom.

                    • I mean all you have to do is as Jack or Randy or Larry or Jeffrey. It's not that hard to do. Fuck, I'll get in touch with Jack or Michael and ask them myself.

                          • Or you could do what JCR did and ask JJ himself.

                              • NEW YORK — Josh Johnson will try to resume his throwing program Tuesday in South Florida, a significant step toward his effort to return to the Marlins' starting rotation before the end of the season.

"We'll try to start building him back up,' General Manager Mike Hill said Monday.

Johnson could play catch in long-toss sessions for at least a week before he moves to a mound, where he would then try to throw at least three bullpen sessions every other day. If that goes well, he'd pitch at least one simulated game and then make two or three rehab starts.

Barring another setback, Johnson could return to the Marlins by September. But he started a throwing program in June before being shut down because of discomfort.

Johnson's last start was May 16, a day before he went on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Last year, he missed the final three weeks of the season with a strained back muscle and sore right shoulder.

A two-time All-Star, Johnson is 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA in nine starts this year. His rotation spot is now being plugged by rookie left-hander Brad Hand, who make his seventh start Tuesday.

"His injury kind of helped my situation, but we don't want to have our No. 1 guy down,' said Hand, who is 1-3 with a 2.73 ERA in six starts.

Hand walked six batters Thursday in Washington and was pulled after allowing one run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings.

"If you throw strikes, you have a chance to win, a chance to stay in the game, because I don't like walks,' manager Jack McKeon said.

"I think (with) the young guys, sometimes the club they face they get intimidated, sometimes they want to give the other team's hitters a whole lot more credit than they want to give themselves.'
