I've been saying for years that our conditioning staff is the worst. The amount of serious injuries our team sustains both in the majors and minors is incredibly alarming.

Is it really that much different from any team? Obviously we pay more attention to the Marlins so that's what we notice but I have a hard time believing what we go through is unusual.

It might affect us more than other teams but little/no depth is the peril of a small market team. That doesn't mean the training staff is incompetent.

          I think this is true.

Also, younger players do tend to have more severe injuries than do older players. We have a higher proportion of younger players than most teams do, so that is probably why we see relatively more catastrophic injuries.

Dr. Andrews found no structural damage in JJ's shoulder. Got a cortisone shot and won't throw for 10 days. Forget July 16 return. #marlins

No structural damage on Florida Marlins ace Josh Johnson’s shoulder

              by Joe Capozzi
Josh Johnson just got out his appointment with Dr. James Andews in the last half hour and the news was better than expected.

An MRI and examination found no structural damage in Johnson’s right shoulder. He will not resume his throwing program for at least 10 days.

Johnson also received a cortisone shot. More important, he was told that “there’s nothing that should prevent him from throwing again this year,” according to a person close to JJ.

              “It was the best-case scenario.”

I’ll have a more complete update later today.

If this is the karmic balance for June, I'll take it.

I guess he'll hurt his gluteus maximus in August and call it a year.

Perhaps he is suggesting that JJ is injury prone

                        Oh. Ok.

                        I guess I get it.

I blame girardi for any arm injuries that happen to JJ.

This is a really dumb thing to say right after it was determined that there is no structural damage in his shoulder.

Anyway, this is the best news I've heard all day. I had already figured that he was done till 2013 because he went to Andrews after his bullpen session

I never mentioned this injury. I mean all injuries.

I'm still confused how someone that was supposed to have "Shoulder Inflammation" is gonna be for 4/5 of a season?

I had shoulder inflammation in high school. I missed 2 starts.
Miami Marlins. Channeling our inner 90s Devil Rays.
