Dominguez may very well be above average. But are these reports coming from the same people who said Hermida could play CF circa 2004?
    Yeah, I see your point.

The general minds of the minors-at-large kind of are in the habit of repeating conventional knowledge about a player, especially if the value isn't necessarily easily quantified (like defense).

I can understand the necessity of going ahead and saying "well, I trust that scout and he said this" and just running with it, and about 5 or 6 guys doing the same thing.

Still though, Dominguez is really meant to be a spectacular 3B and there's a big difference between being a spectacular defensive player at your position and being able to play a more physically demanding position.

      Jim Edmonds
      Pedro Feliz
      Troy Glaus
      Christian Guzman
      Andy LaRoche
      Felipe Lopez
      Julio Lugo
      Lastings Milledge
      Scott Podsednik

Granted some guys are better than others and some of them stink, but there are still guys out there that are available. But who knows maybe one of them can get hot and have a decent year. If Glaus could stay somewhat healthy and could be cheap, he might not be a bad gamble at the 3B position, again if he can still handle the position. Obviously money is an issue but none of these guys (except maybe Podsednik) will cost a lot.
You can scratch Cantu off too, he just signed a major league deal with SD.

      • Cameron at 7 mil is very good value.

Also, Osvaldo really needs some love. More advanced than matty is - likely get a 700 OPS out of him - and would give is really good D as well. Only FA I'd be interested in over him is Edmonds (Who'd give us some lefty power our line up could really use)

Unless he's asking for an unreasonable amount of money, I have no clue why he isn't generating any interest.

Prolly want a guaranteed starting spot.. We seem committed to Cogs in center.. Its like when we were committed to keep Boner in the lead off spot even tho he was turrible

I was talking about the entire league in general; not just the Marlins. I would figure that some team out there would give him a starting job after the year he had last season.
