The general minds of the minors-at-large kind of are in the habit of repeating conventional knowledge about a player, especially if the value isn't necessarily easily quantified (like defense).
I can understand the necessity of going ahead and saying "well, I trust that scout and he said this" and just running with it, and about 5 or 6 guys doing the same thing.
Still though, Dominguez is really meant to be a spectacular 3B and there's a big difference between being a spectacular defensive player at your position and being able to play a more physically demanding position.
