Jones has actually been pretty good since July. At the very least the Marlins have to feel comfortable moving the Burdick-Misner-Jones OF to Jupiter starting next year. Then we'll most likely get Bleday-Scott-Encarnacion at Jacksonville.

The other Wright State guy, Orr, is about as steady a single hitter as they come at Batavia. He rates a chance somewhere up the line.

I like Orr's ability to draw walks the most, would've loved to see what he could've done in Clinton this year for a bit. One thing he needs to work on is his Stolen Base efficiency. He has a lot of steals, but he's also been thrown out a lot, too.

You're just saying that because he gets thrown out about 30 percent of the time. Still, in only a month and a half of games, he has nearly as many steals as the entire Marlin team for the season. Sure would be nice to steal bases so it wouldn't require three hits to score a run.

He's gotten thrown out about 38% of his attempts. That's really bad. Stolen Base effectiveness, is much more important than stolen base accumulation. You can have 50 steals in a season, but if you also got thrown out 35 times you are a bad base stealer.

                - - - - - - - - - -

One of the things I like about Monte Harrison is how unbelievably efficient with his base stealing he is. Gets thrown out less than 16% of the time, that's a skill that can be quite lethal if used properly.

Gonna have to make some hard 1B/OF decisions next April. We have alot of OF who need AB's in Jupiter and up.

Thomas Jones is another guy who has looked great lately. He would have been drafted this year from Vandy if we didn't sign him out of HS

                        OF
                        AAA-Monte/Brian Miller/Jesus/Dean/Stone Garrett/Corey Bird
                        AA-VV/Bleday/Jerar/Seymour
                        Hi A-Connor/Burdick/Jones/Misner/Pompey
Lo A-Bradshaw/Orr/Milton Smith/Guaimaro/Hampton/Johnston/Rosario OR Osiris/lots of GCL guys

                        1B
                        AAA-Lewin
                        AA-Alonso
                        Hi A-Edwards OR try Misner/Pompey
                        Lo A-Infante/Owings/Nic Ready/Reynolds(if NOT a P)

I know some of the OF are not prospects but u need guys like Bird/Seymour/Orr/Milton Smith in system. Wouldnt be surprised if a Lo A guy or 2 are promoted to see if they can hang(Orr/Smith/Hampton)

I think it's interesting - acknowledging the SSS for some - that there is a pattern emerging that the Marlins are decreasing the K rates of some of their main guys (Isan, Monte, Scott, SSS-Jazz and Sanchez). This may be a coincidence, but something might be going on here with some rather immediate changes with Jazz/Sanchez.

I suspect it's something like being more aggressive on 1st and 1-0 pitch strikes, which was the whole Monte scouting report from last year. But I'm cautiously optimistic they are coaching them up somewhere here as this isn't just 1 or 2 guys showing some real peripheral improvement.

Of course, it doesn't work for everybody. Brinson still stinks.

If Scott maintains the .900 OPS he's got for the rest of the season at Jupiter, I don't see how you don't move him up to Jacksonville. May be a little aggressive, but you've gotta reward success, especially at Jupiter. Scott puts up a .900 OPS at Jupiter for 2 months, great get him out of there. Get him to Jacksonville, even if he spends 2 years at Jacksonville he's still on-schedule.

Also can we talk about VVM's .295 OPS at Jacksonville? No that's not a typo. I know we spent a lot of money on this guy, but he's soon about to be just in the way.

If it were me 2020 would be.

AAA (*major assumption* Brinson is traded)
                              OF - Dean/Miller/Sanchez (Sierra and Harrison-MLB)
                              1B - Diaz

                              AA
                              OF - Encarnacion/Scott/Bleday
                              1B - Alonso

                              Hi-A
OF - Burdick/Misner/Jones/Pompey (DH in play, so all 4 can play every day)
                              1B - Edwards

                              Lo-A
                              OF - Bradshaw/Orr/Osiris/Smith
                              1B - Reynolds/Infante

One interesting decision, would they dare try Victor Mesa Jr. at Clinton to start next year? Send VVM there too, that looks about where he is in his development based on his numbers. lol
