5-tool CJ Abrams off to a great start for San Diego. I didn't like the VV Mesa signing (we had other guys Sierra/Miller with similar assets/limitations). I felt Abrams would have been a superior choice to Bleday, who looks entirely unspecial to me. Connor Scott may end up as a pitcher (some scouts projected him for the late second or third round AS A PITCHER and he already hits like one).

Lee hates Bleday before he's had a professional AB, unbelievable.

"Hate" seems like a misrepresention of a player merely labeled as "unspecial." Marlins management was said to be targeting up-the-middle, 5-tool talent. Bleday is not that. He seemed like a reach to me with the fourth pick. We shall see if he makes it or not. My current "love" is reserved for the Cabrera, Rogers, and Garrett group.

Who said this? It's clear they wanted a college power bat that could move quickly and they went out and got the best one. I know you were out there scouting Abrams and analyzing his high school stats, though, so you'd definitely know better.

they were not said to be targeting that kind ofplayer. you're an entire year behind as to what type of player the marlins were targeting in this draft.

man, cj abrams numbers are kind of unbelievable for a high school guy this early. I didnt want him and still think bleday is the right pick given our organization but the padres really do a great job scouting.

We’ve had enough “FIVE TOOL” dumpster fires already in this organization. I was (and still am) thrilled they took Bleday and not Abrams.

agreed. All i was saying was that his numbers are pretty phenomenal thus far. Bleday was exactly what we needed given our prospect situations in terms of where our pitchers are and how few impact power hitting prospects we have in the system right now who are anywhere near the majors.
