I don't pay a lot of attention to the DSL, but Jandel Paulino has caught my eye. 100 ABs in, his OBP is over .500, OPS over 1.000 18-years old. May be one to watch.

Brother is Daniel Paulino in GCL

DSL has Paulino, Julio Machado(1B/2B/3B),Cumana (1B/C) who should be in GCL but NO space and Rodriguez/De Leon as 17 yr olds who have shown something. They also have about 5-10 arms who are solid. 2 or 3 are older(20/21) but most are 17-19 yr olds

holy shit trevor rogers. He and garrett have done enough to move on to AA for the rest of the year soon. At this rate, if they continue to develop like this they could get a shot in the bigs towards the end of next year.

Also, it's still early, but early indications are that Connor Scott stinks. That draft pick is inexcusable. Had liberatore on the board or gorman or even xavier edwards who is lighting it up

Give him another year before we say he is crap(Trevor Rogers looked like a RP until this year) but ya they messed up with Gorman and Liberatore but to be fair IF they would have taken either of them they probably don't draft Banfield

                  Gorman OR Liberatore
                  Scott and Banfield

Im not saying he's crap yet. Just saying the early returns have not been good. And banfield has been even worse, although he is supposedly unbelievably defensively so maybe he can become a jeff mathis type defensive backup C if the bat never comes around. But ya, obviously, it is still way too early to definitively call them a bust. But both of them are so young I wouldnt mind them repeating the year next year in Clinton. If they dont show improvements next year, then it might be time to call them a bust.

There is so much to be excited about with Victor Mesa Jr. For one, he turns 18 in September. He already is performing against older competition in GCL. And remember this, he wouldn’t be eligible for MLB Draft until 2020, and he would be a no-doubt first-rounder. #Marlins

I love how Joe is so bad. He's such a bandwagon beat reporter. If someome is doing going he's the best, first rounder etc

I know just saying thats how they see it.

If they would have taken a chance on Liberatore or Gorman they wouldn't have gotten Banfield. Banfield could be a ML backup right now and has shown power. 19 all year too. They both could spend 2 years in Jupiter and still be 22 yr olds in AA which is fine!

If u are 23 and younger in AA u are still a "prospect"

Honestly even more so than Scott, the signing of VVM has me questioning our scouting department. We gave $5 million to a 22-year old, about to be 23-year old who has a grand total of 5 XBH, with 0 HRs and a .265 slugging percentage in A-Ball.

Rather spend 5 million and take a chance than sit on hands and do nothing. Baltimore tried to get him for 6 Million btw

We traded Bearclaw,Ryan Lillie,De Paula,Giron for Mesa Brothers. Ill take that trade anyday

This is what people don't understand about the IFA market-its like getting lotto tickets. Rather see Marlins spend cash and strike out on 16/17 yr old guys then sit on the cash or trade it for a Bryan Morris/26 yr old in Low A Ball

I still think it was incredibly stupid to start Mesa in Jupiter...I know there are reasons but he should've been in Jacksonville to open. He would've put up better numbers.

I'm sorry but spending $5 million on VVM and doing nothing were not your only two options.

Not sure I buy this, yes you're numbers are going to suffer if you're a hitter in Jupiter, but typically the good hitters still hit better at Jupiter than the bad hitters. VVM's numbers are bad even for Jupiter.
