who cares if they bust? The point of IFA spending is to take as many swings as possible. I'd much rather spend $5 on someone who has potential rather than take the loria approach o never sppending any of that IFA money. And yes, the options last year pretty much were $5 on the mesa brothers or not spend it because most of those guys were already signed with teams by the time we were able to start scouting with our current front office I believe. Plus, while it is early and he's only in GCL, i think victor Jr. is going to be a potential stud for us down the line. His numbers are impressive. I hate to repeat what frisaro said, but he probably would be a first rounder if he were in the US and eligible for next years draft.

Also, it's still early, but early indications are that Connor Scott stinks. That draft pick is inexcusable. Had liberatore on the board or gorman or even xavier edwards who is lighting it up

We paid the equivalent of first round slot money for Mesa, glad they're spending on IFA, but if they're open to criticism on Connor Scott they have to be open to criticism on Mesa. Especially considering Scott is still young for his level and Mesa is old for his level.

We also got mesa jr. out of it who looks like the better player and a legit prospect moving forward. I just think its kind of ridiculous to criticize the front office for whiffing on an IFA guy. seriously, go look at the mlb pipeline top international players by year. the vast majority whiff. but you can never hit a home run if you dont consistently try to at least swing for the fences. IFA by its very nature is a crapshoot. You are trying to project 16 year old kids or guys like mesa who are 22 and usually havent played in a year after defecting. There are gonna be swings and misses. The fact that they are continually trying to invest in IFA is the much bigger story, even if it sucks that it looks like Mesa is going to become a 4th OF at best.

Nasim Nunez, very very early, but .323 average so far with a .421 OBP. fish16 and I had a discussion about slap hitters, and comparing him to Dee Gordon, perhaps early indications that Nunez will take walks? If so, could be a very exciting prospect if his defense is all we're being told it is.

Rookie teams all have some solid arms. Older but solid will be interesting if they start moving arms up soon or what. They started with RP but SP not really yet, prolly waiting until guys hit there innings limit
Before few guys complain-they are gonna start shutting guys down early(Cabrera,Garrett,Holloway,Vallimont,Gallen,Si xto) due to innings limits. I have heard they might stagger them but they will be shut down before end of the season. Reason they are taking time with Pablo is #1 he has a innings limit and #2 when they shutdown Gallen/Hernandez/Sandy they can just have Pablo take the spot-no point in rushing him backLast edited by tjfla; 07-05-2019, 07:50 AM.

Edward Cabrera should be a top 100 guy at the end of this year or in the midseason lists. We should have a number of guys on top 100 lists. Diaz, Sixto, Garrett, Rogers, Cabrera, maybe Monte.
