Lacy going 1-2-3 would have the top three players on the BA 500 going in their ranked order, and plenty of people believe Miami wants an arm here. They are set up to get the best pitcher in the class with Lacy, who made strides with his control and his slider this spring. Scouting director DJ Svihlik has ties to Vanderbilt and because of that Austin Martin, so if the Orioles were to pass on him his name certainly comes into play here. There are plenty of late rumors that the Marlins may actually go away from Lacy, likely to pick Minnesota RHP Max Meyer instead or to take Austin Martin if he doesn't go to the Orioles at No. 2 (still a possibility). We're not sold on the rumors enough to change our pick, and a couple of hours before the draft is the perfect time for posturing, but we heard the same rumor from multiple officials with multiple teams.

6'0 180 and a RHP. He isnt a bad pick but come on Lacy/Hancock there and Gonzales/Patrick Bailey would take 4.5 million if u really wanna save
Max Meyer's brother is Ben Meyer
Too piggyback off of this. Miami has also been talking to HS arms Carson Montgomery,Jared Kelley,Justin Lange it seems they are trying to go underslot for 1 of them in Rd 2 and others who might fall. Miami MIGHT be going for the "go crazy" draft

Very stupid!! If they wanna get cute do it right and take Nick Gonzales for 4.5 million save 3 million and go crazy the rest of the draft. Dont take an undersize P and save 500K or so

It looks like the Rangers are taking Sabato, so he’s out of the running for round 2.

We will find out shortly, but I'm not entirely buying the Max Meyer rumor. It reminds me of last year when Bleday was the guy all along and then right before the draft there were rumors about his price being high. I just think it's the usual posturing before the draft.

I just dont understand Max Meyer as the backup plan. If u wanna go underslot u do it right and save 3 million u dont take a guy and save 500K
Like said before its 100% confirmed that IF Lacy's price is right he is the pick. Question is what is his price at 7;30? Is it 8 mil or 7.25

I also don't buy that Martin isn't their preferred choice and they are hoping he is there at 3.Last edited by fauowls44; 06-10-2020, 05:46 PM.

I meant he could move because of size/arm but Alika Williams is a MIF. Marlins are looking at guys who could play multiple spots. No worries tho seems Williams has been talking underslot deals with teams who are looking to get cute

Just in case Meyer ends up the guy here is Keith Law's breakdown. He has him as the 4th best player in the draft (right after Lacy):
4. Max Meyer, RHP, Minnesota, Age: 21
Meyer is up to 99 mph with a wipeout slider that reached 93 mph this spring, and if he were 2 or 3 inches taller, he’d probably be in the mix at No. 1 overall. His arm is really quick, but the delivery works well and he’s on time. He’s a very good athlete and has no trouble repeating the delivery or throwing strikes. There is reliever risk here, but I don’t think it’s from his height — it’s from how hard he throws, and how often the Gophers have asked him to throw his slider, so that we don’t really know how he’ll fare when he tries to pitch more off his fastball (or whether he can hold up throwing that many sliders). I’d take the bet, especially since there’s 2-3 WAR reliever potential here if he can’t handle starting.
