Obviously if you can somehow pull off getting both Lacy and Ginn in this draft that would be unbelievable. Not sure how realistic it would be financially, and yeah Ginn is hurt, but this looks to be a lost season for most minor league players anyway.

This is the safe bet, but do not be surprised if the Marlins go with Max Meyer here — even if Martin doesn’t go at No. 2.

I could see us taking Austin Wells instead or if JT Ginn/Westburg gets to us and if Casey Martin is on the board at 61 I doubt we pass on him especially since about 7 LH College P still around in Rd 3

Havent heard us connected to Meyer however he is Ben Meyer's brother and might save us some cash. Note that Keith Law hates Miami and barely scouts us

Ya the injuries mean nothing this year since pretty much no season till next March. Ginn/Fisher are both off TJS.

Marlins can go 5% OVER so another 500K plus they can likely save another 300-500K in Rd 4/5 very easy so financially would be ok. The 2nd Rd pick is gonna come down to who is on the board. Sabato is likely gone now but they really want a college bat. Ginn at #40 I would be fine with

Yeah, that is the first time I read about Meyer and the Marlins connected. I'd still take Lacy or Martin over him if all 3 are on the board, but Meyer wouldn't be a huge reach. Most mock drafts have him going in the 4-7 range.

Lacy going 1-2-3 would have the top three players on the BA 500 going in their ranked order, and plenty of people believe Miami wants an arm here. They are set up to get the best pitcher in the class with Lacy, who made strides with his control and his slider this spring. Scouting director DJ Svihlik has ties to Vanderbilt and because of that Austin Martin, so if the Orioles were to pass on him his name certainly comes into play here

I wouldn't be a big fan of taking Alika Williams at 40, like ESPN has us doing. Especially not with guys like Austin Wells, Blaze Jordan, and especially Casey Martin on the board. Williams doesn't appear to really stand out in any one area. With some of the other middle infielders currently in the system, I don't see why you'd go after a guy that appears to be an average, glove first SS, at best that early. Go for upside.

Williams doesn't appear to really stand out in any one area. We also have quite a few glove first shortstop in the pipeline. Nasim Nunez and Jose Devers spring to mind immediately.

It would seem like moving him to 3B would actually lower his value because the bat is nothing special. The value is that he should be able to play SS in the majors.

We aren't confident enough in it to change our pick at No. 3 (at least yet), but we are hearing enough rumblings to add some notes to our Marlins writeup about the possibility they go a different direction.
