Obviously if you can somehow pull off getting both Lacy and Ginn in this draft that would be unbelievable. Not sure how realistic it would be financially, and yeah Ginn is hurt, but this looks to be a lost season for most minor league players anyway.

#40:
38. Detroit Tigers: J.T. Ginn, RHP, Mississippi State
39. Baltimore Orioles: Jordan Westburg, SS, Mississippi State
40. Miami Marlins: Alika Williams, SS, Arizona State
41. Kansas City Royals: Masyn Winn, SS, Kingwood HS (Texas), Arkansas commit
42. Toronto Blue Jays: Austin Wells, C, Arizona
43. Seattle Mariners: Cole Henry, RHP, LSU
44. Pittsburgh Pirates: C.J. Van Eyk, RHP, Florida State
and #61:
61. Miami Marlins: Ian Seymour, LHP, Virginia Tech
62. Detroit Tigers: Casey Martin, SS, Arkansas
63. St. Louis Cardinals: Kevin Parada, C, Loyola HS (California), Georgia Tech commit

Keith Law's final mock draft is out and his note is interesting:
3. Miami Marlins: Asa Lacy, LHP, Texas A&M
This is the safe bet, but do not be surprised if the Marlins go with Max Meyer here — even if Martin doesn’t go at No. 2.
Havent heard us connected to Meyer however he is Ben Meyer's brother and might save us some cash. Note that Keith Law hates Miami and barely scouts us

Marlins can go 5% OVER so another 500K plus they can likely save another 300-500K in Rd 4/5 very easy so financially would be ok. The 2nd Rd pick is gonna come down to who is on the board. Sabato is likely gone now but they really want a college bat. Ginn at #40 I would be fine with

Ya the injuries mean nothing this year since pretty much no season till next March. Ginn/Fisher are both off TJS.

Originally posted by fauowls44 View PostYeah, that is the first time I read about Meyer and the Marlins connected. I'd still take Lacy or Martin over him if all 3 are on the board, but Meyer wouldn't be a huge reach. Most mock drafts have him going in the 4-7 range.

Asa Lacy
Texas A&MLHP
Notes:
Lacy going 1-2-3 would have the top three players on the BA 500 going in their ranked order, and plenty of people believe Miami wants an arm here. They are set up to get the best pitcher in the class with Lacy, who made strides with his control and his slider this spring. Scouting director DJ Svihlik has ties to Vanderbilt and because of that Austin Martin, so if the Orioles were to pass on him his name certainly comes into play here

I wouldn't be a big fan of taking Alika Williams at 40, like ESPN has us doing. Especially not with guys like Austin Wells, Blaze Jordan, and especially Casey Martin on the board. Williams doesn't appear to really stand out in any one area. With some of the other middle infielders currently in the system, I don't see why you'd go after a guy that appears to be an average, glove first SS, at best that early. Go for upside.

Alika Williams could move to 3B. They arent really looking at position its more about getting a college bat. I know they have been looking at him but they like guys like Austin Wells/Casey Martin too. I would wait to see who is on the board tommorrow before look at anything on the 2nd day
1 thing to remember is they have to look at money. Yes alot more talented guys but if u are pay Lacy overslot and taking a HS guy or 2 u need some extra cash.
Again I would wait till tommorrow to really look at Day 2

By way pretty much confirmed we are taking Asa Lacy at #3
Baltimore has a deal with Austin Martin and Bitsko at #30(assuming he lasts that long)
No clue about the price but Lacy was asking 8 million from Detroit and Baltimore. Assume its around slot to 7 millionLast edited by tjfla; 06-10-2020, 02:53 PM.

It looks like the Rangers are taking Sabato, so he’s out of the running for round 2.

Update from BA...Sports24/7, can you post the notes in the mock?
JJ Cooper
@jjcoop36
We aren't confident enough in it to change our pick at No. 3 (at least yet), but we are hearing enough rumblings to add some notes to our Marlins writeup about the possibility they go a different direction.
