  • 2020 Draft

MLB.com has wayyyyy to Early Mock out

    https://www.mlb.com/news/early-2020-...eline-coverage

    4. Marlins: Pete Crow-Armstrong, OF, Harvard-Westlake HS (Studio City, Calif.)
The best prospect in the high school crop, he's an advanced hitter with power potential and well above-average speed. Crow-Armstrong also plays a quality center field and performed well on the 18-and-under U.S. national team last fall as a rising junior in a lineup that included five 2019 first-rounders.

Callis calls this the BEST draft since 2011!!

Doubtful we take him since College C/1B/SS/3B and P's in Top 10 as well. Plus Miami should be tanking

    New Mock out

    https://www.mlb.com/news/2020-mock-d...eline-coverage

    3. Marlins: Emerson Hancock, RHP, Georgia

At this point, Miami's choice would seem pretty easy: Just take whichever of the three elite prospects remains on the board. Hancock has three plus pitches (a 94-99 mph fastball, a mid-80s slider and a fading changeup), his curveball isn't far behind and he pounds the strike zone with all of them

MLB.com put out its Top 100 as well

    http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2020?list=draft

Very college heavy draft with 9 C in Top 100. Big mover is College 2B Nick Gonzales(NM State). Won Cape MVP and is Hiura type bat. Negative is 2B ONLY. Gives us another option IF we wanna stay away from arms

Honestly don't care who they take of Martin, Torkelson, or Hancock. Seems like a perfect scenario for them. I'd prefer Martin or Hancock though versus a 1B only but who cares end of the day.

Catcher with 2nd pick makes a lot of organizational sense. Glad it's a catcher heavy draft.

Assuming they don't sign a QFA, getting a 3B with the other 2nd rounder (or a SP if they take Martin) really fills needs and they can easily do that on a BPA level too.

Looks like a good draft year for them.

        My guy:

        4. Royals: Nick Gonzales, 2B, New Mexico

Gonzales led NCAA Division I hitting (.432) while ranking second in OPS (1.305), third in slugging (.773) and fifth in on-base percentage (.532) as a sophomore, then proved those numbers weren't just the result of a favorable hitting environment by making a run at the Cape Cod League Triple Crown. He could be a more athletic version of Keston Hiura, whom the Brewers selected at No. 9 in 2017.

Because he had been ranked 12-15 prior to now, I'd been disappointed that he would be an unlikely pick at three for the Marlins. Now seen as high as #4, he's in the picture going into the spring college season.

Awesome! Manfred talked about doing this last year, glad they got it done.

Through a mere four games in the 2020 season, Gonzales has been epic. https://nmstatesports.com/cumestats.aspx?path=baseball&

I fear that Gonzales would have to break an ankle and miss this season in order for him to be available when the Marlins pick.

Let's let the college season play out more than one weekend.

Was referring more to his Cape Cod League domination last summer versus the country's best ... than to his domination of Texas Southern last week.

Watching this ASU-NMSU game so far Torkelson has walked all 3 ABs. He did absolutely destroy a ball that was foul apparently. (Camera work on this stream is not great) Gonzalez is 0-1 with a walk and a K. Gonzales has made a couple nice plays at short, but also has an error.

ASU wins 6-5. Torkelson 0-1 with 5 BBs (lol) 4 of them I think were intentional. He had 1 K, the only 2 times he made contact they were majestic bombs that just hooked foul. Nick Gonzales 0-3 with 2 BBs.

Gotta say, neither guy was impressive defensively. Gonzales made 3 errors at short, then with 2 outs in the 9th, and Gonzales up, Gonzales rips a grounder to the shortstop who makes a nice play, but then Torkelson just flat out drops the throw which allows the tying run to score. ASU won it in extras.

Most impressive player went to ASU lefty starter. Game was a yawner.
