Considering he hadn't played in almost 2 years he really should have went to extended spring training and Batavia when it starts back up. Clinton to start 2020 and Jupiter at mid season. Jacksonville in 2021.

as someone who didnt understand why we put holloway on the 40 man, let me be the first to tell you i was completely wrong. guy still walks way too many but good god the guy is almost impossible for FSL hitters to hit. guy has a 1.10 WHIP somehow despite 22 walks in 30 innings. Thats absolutely incredible and a testament to his stuff. Hopefully he figures the control out but i am so encouraged by just about every pitching prospect we have except for Neidert who has been hurt and Stewart who has even flashed glimpses at times himself. Holloway, Gallen, Cabrera, Rogers, Garrett, Guzman, Dugger, Yamamoto, and sixto all have ERA's 3.47 with the exception of Yamamoto who is at 3.98 and Sixto who is at 3.74.


Plus, among that group, only Rogers at 1.38, Guzman at 1.27 and sixto at 1.43 have WHIPS above 1.17. In addition, almost all of them are right there at 9+ k's per 9 IP. We have one of the best collective groups of SP prospects in the entire league right now and I dont think that is any kind of stretch any more given the depth and how they've performed.

He is 22 and throws 97+ some team would have jumped all over him as a RP. Much like Miami has done the past 2 years someone(Balt/Det) would have taken him/put him on 60 Day DL till July then kept him. It was a good addition since we had space and he looks great

I will say it was absolutely asinine to send Victor Victor Mesa, in his first minor league experience, to a place that is notoriously hard for hitters. It's like they wanted to kill his confidence. Would've been better to send him to AA than Jupiter.

They just wanted to get him AB's and putting him in Jupiter gets that/they can watch him closer. Plus he gets to live with his brother. The goal with VV is 2019-Finish in AA and go to AFL(for more AB's) 2020-Go to ST and if he looks great makes team but if not goes to AA again

Main goal in 2019 is get as many AB's as possible.

7 No-hit innings from Vallimont today. 2.70 ERA now, 0.94 WHIP. College Arm, may be time to move him up, I know the rotations at Jupiter and Jax are all full-up, but we've got guys at each level worthy of moving up. You could move up Holloway to AA and Yamamoto to AAA, both would be worthy promotions and Ben Meyer or Noesi can be moved into the NO bullpen, that's probably the only way they'll ever make the big league club anyway.

Neidert was/is "hurt" and Stewart has been crap but Vallimont,Mejia,Guerrero,Braley,Elieser even Poteet have shown something this year

Wouldn't be a suprise to see us add 2 more arms early in draft Rd 2 and 5? Then u have Givin,Dakota Bennett,Palacios and DSL guys in low minors

Of course Lee Stone is saying ridiculous things, but I think Hernandez should be given just as much of an opportunity to stick in the rotation as Gallen. Isan Diaz's OPS creeping towards .800.

Hernandez has the best ERA and pitches at the highest level. He is no longer a pitching prospect per se, having thrown 65 innings last season for the Marlins.

Hernandez is deserving of a chance to start in the Majors. Like Gallen, there is just no need for him now in Miami, but he's pitched very well. He's definitely not the top pitching prospect, but he just turned 24 and has dominated AAA in 8 starts so far. I wouldn't be so fast to say he's destined to be a reliever yet. Him having a 61/14 K to BB ratio in 42 AAA innings is not insignificant.

Brigham gets a pass on "age" as he missed 2 years with arm issues. The best thing about Brigham is the Marlins figured out he was a RP before they DFA him

As for Elieser the reason they sent down to AAA was so he could get innings as a SP. They project him as LR/5th SP guy
