Is that number just the amount for each slot we are projected to have added up? And then we can spend up to that amount but distribute it among the picks how we want to?

We can spend $13,695,000 on ANY of our Picks in Top 10 Rds and OVER $125,000 after Rd 10

Rd 11-40 u can spend $125,000 per pick WITHOUT it affected pool #

          Miami-Witt/Vaughn

Miami likes them both alot. Could come down to $ and when I say $ its NOT we won't pay but they would like to save more for later in the draft to take BPA.

Witt is 5 tool SS(who can stick at the spot). He is OLDER than Osiris but if we take him OJ probably moves to 2B or CF and Witt slots in with talent in Clinton
Vaughn is Best Bat in the draft. Stuck at 1B and is 5'11 200. But we have an opening at 1B right now(Pompey?) so he could move very quickly. Possible Jax by 2020

WIN/WIN situation for us which probably means we will end up taking a HS P
It should be one of those top 4. From all accounts, that is pretty clearly the top tier. If they go anywhere else because of money, that would be upsetting. Witt is exciting because he probably has the highest upside, but part of me would actually prefer Vaughn. The Marlins could really use a big power bat like that, and while 1B isn't always the preferred spot to get, his bat is good enough that it shouldn't matter.

            Fangraphs with update

There’s similar buzz that Miami is also looking hard at college options and that Lodolo is in their mix.

            Balt-Adley
            KC-Vaughn

            Then it gets murky?

Miami is looking at Lodolo,Stott and the "power" bats like Bishop,Misner but really want Vaughn to fall. I think it would be crazy for us to pass on Abrams OR Witt unless they are asking for like 7 Million especially since u can get a solid arm or college SS at #35. Never thought I would say this but we have too much 20-22 yr old arms already but it they really like Bryson Stott and think he is special(Stick at SS/move fast and would take less) I would be OK with him at #4. Likely changes over the next month but this is infor for now

As for the money-Miami isn't looking to save cash however they would like to save some for later in the draft(like LY). What I mean is they won't pass on a guy because of $ but if 2 kids they like are there and they can save for Rd 2/3 they could be tempted

            #4-College SS Bryson Stott
            #35-College SP Carter Stewart,Graeme Stinson
            #46-HS 3B Rece Hinds,Brooks Lee
            Rd 3-BPA who will sign

If pass on HS SS I would be OK with this still. The thing to realize is we already have FULL Rookie teams and actually all minor league teams are full before the draft and trade deadline so lots of guys will be either fliers or HS guys

I Like Stott as well. I really wanted Vaughn but I don’t think he drops. That bat is just too special. But I do think they need a fast mover with high upside and Stott just me be that. Would be a risk to pass on Witt/Abrams though.

Yeah, I understood that you mean saving money for other picks, but I don't see their organization in a position to do that. Take the guy that can be a star. You don't pass on a potential 5 tool player at a premium position like Witt for another arm (that some don't even have as a top 10 player in this draft). For the life of me, I couldn't understand why they passed on Nolan Gorman last year with his monster upside, and that's currently looking like a huge mistake. I hope they don't do the same this year.

Id love Vaughn. We need a very powerful fast moving bat in the system.

I like Vaughn but no way he falls at he is perfect for AL. KC will take him and if not CWS will. As long as its not an OF should be a solid pick-I like the 5 tool HS guys but Stott is a solid LHB who can stick at SS but if Devers becomes ML SS then he can go to 3B too

When I say saving cash I dont mean passing on Witt or Abrams to take a arm or bat out of the Top 10. What I mean is our #4 pick is $6,664,000-IF Witt wants 7.5,Abrams is like 6.6 and Stott is 6 million I could see them saying we will pass on Witt and take Abrams or Stott because they like all 3 guys about the same AND later in the draft they can use the other cash.

Gorman fell because his asking price was crazy then signed for slot. Same thing with Matt Liberatore. Teams call "agents" and ask them what it would take. If the agent doesn't wanna go there he response with crazy price and tempts team to pick them

                    - - - - - - - - - -

                    Team needs to go

                    1-Bat
                    1S-Arm
                    2-Bat
                    3-Bat
                    4-Bat
                    5-Arm
                    6-Bat
                    7-10-2 Arms and 2 Bats(Cheaper)

7 Bats and 4 Arms is what they need to do

I’m really hoping Shea Langeliers drops to 35.

                        4. Marlins – C.J. Abrams, SS, Blessed Trinity HS (GA)

This is where things start to get a little tricky. After NHSI, where new scouting director D.J. Svihlik and VP Gary Denbo were locked in on Abrams and seemingly uninterested in Riley Greene on an adjacent field, industry rumors intensified that Abrams was the preference. Earlier in the spring, most believed there was a preference for a college player here, with Lodolo the most common connection. Svihlik used to be on staff at Vanderbilt and some think J.J. Bleday also makes sense here. I’ll go with Abrams for now, but it’s pretty close between these three options and I get the impression this decision is far from made, anyway. Denbo has also seen Witt a few times.

Our #35 pick should be interesting. U could have

                        Shea Langeliers
                        Daniel Espino
                        Graeme Stinson
                        Greg Jones
                        Carter Stewart

still on the board. Sucks Arizona has picks #33 and 34 because they have enough pool cash to overpay for Langeliers or Espino-this is 1 reason u hear people saying College Guys for Miami. If we take a Lodolo,Bleday or Stott u could save some cash and pick BPA regardless. I would still go Vaughn or Abrams especially since we have tons of SP depth in 20-22 yr range and dont need more OF only guys

                        - - - - - - - - - -

They need to do same thing as LY. Up the middle bats(C,MIF,CF) and BPA-spend 5% over pool and get more talent in the system

                        Top 10 Picks go with 7-8 Bats and 3-4 Arms.(Rds 7-10 are "signable arms"/players)

That would be amazing for us however very very unlikely. Arizona has picks 33,34 right before us and could combine those 2 $ pools. Pay Langeliers overslot like 3 million then take some HS player and give him a below slot deal. If he is around at #35 I would take him in a second whether he keeps sucking or not this year(remember had hand injury)

Keith Law, in his top 50 draft prospects list today, said that he's hearing the Royals are focused in on Bobby Witt at 2. It would be nice if Vaughn falls to 4, but if not, I'd be really happy with Abrams. Interestingly, Law ranks Corbin Carroll #4 ahead of Abrams. FWIW he has Lodolo 10th.

Keith Law is the worst but whatever. Kiley/Jim Callis/Mayo are the best at rankings

Hearing same with Witt but issue with Vaughn is CWS are drooling for him to fall to #3. Vaughn is perfect AL guy-1B/DH so he wont get to us unless something weird goes on

Lodolo is like 5-10 overall but #1 arm in draft. I would go with SP at #35 as u can get a Carter Stewart/Espino/Hunter Barco/Stinson. Ill pass on Riley Greene(same as Connor Scott from LY) and Corbin Carroll who is 5'10 160lbs. Both are OF only

CJ Abrams,Lodolo,JJ Bleday as RF/1B prospect(What they hoped Pompey would be) and Stott is who I hear they are looking at. YES if Vaughn is there at #4 he would move to top of list tho

Yeah, I was more concerned with him saying he's heard the Royals are on to Witt. His rankings may not be the best, but he does have sources. I'd be pretty upset with Lodolo. Abrams would be by far my top choice assuming we know the top 3, but I might be able to be talked into Bleday.
