So awful. Let's give Chan Ho Park an out. Even worse, let's still put the bunt on with 2 strikes (LOL @ Tim McCarver suggesting that it was Jeter's idea to bunt.....Fuck you Tim you pile)

I really enjoyed watching AJ do well. His curve was sick tonight. Pedro had great stuff too.

So what type of motor oil is Chase Utley using to style his hair?

One of the best games I've seen. I love seeing athletes turn back the clock like Pedro did, and I absolutely love seeing AJ dominate like that. Probably the best game of his career, although, just from a "that's filthy" standpoint, his start against the Rockies at Pro Player in '04 or '05 (can't remember, pretty sure it was '04) when he sat at 100 and struck out 14 was just amazing.

And I think Jeter bunting was absolutely the right call. At that point, you're the home team with the lead, you're placing such a premium on that 4th run, getting it to 3rd with less than 2 outs is huge, putting 2 in scoring position and eliminating the double play is equally big.

I definitely think there's a chance Jeter did it on his own. He's a veteran and one of those types that Girardi doesnt have to tell squat to.

There's no way Jeter bunted on his own except for maybe with 2 strikes.

I mean here's what Girardi asked of Jeter to do

              He's got a career .317 average and .388 OBP
this year he hit .334 with a .406 OBP

In the playoffs, he's a career .311/.383 guy

He hit into just 18 double plays all year long. Chan Ho Park is not a guy that is notorious for getting ground ball double plays. Plus, Park had just given up a well hit single up the middle. Why the hell are you giving the guy an out with one of the best postseason hitters of all time?

I absolutely hate that move, especially with 2 strikes against

Jeter said in the postgame that he did it on his own. Whether that's true is another thing.

Swift, why give the Phillies bullpen an out? Their bullpen is the biggest weakness on the team.

I don't look at it as giving them an out; you're the home team with the lead in the 7th inning, that one out (which also happens to be the first out) is mostly inconsequential relative to what you're trying to do.

You don't have to play for the big inning, you play for that 4th run (and if possible, the 5th run). Damon's a pull machine, you just hope he finds a way to elevate it.

It isn't "giving them an out" as much as it is trying to set up a situation to score a run that doesn't hinge on a hit.

But you're letting the Phillies off the hook a bit by allowing one of the greatest postseason hitters ever to sacrifice himself at the plate.

He still has approximately a 60% chance of recording an out. Were the Yankees behind or tied, it's different, but with the 2 run lead, that 3rd run is so huge, you have to go for it.

I'm not a fan of Andy Pettitte sticking his entire face in his glove. I'm also not a fan of his half of the inning taking 35 minutes. He is the reason people think baseball is boring.

Anyway, I think maybe this site should all be shut down except for the threads about fake baseball teams with tarded names.

I was thinking the same thing, I really want to only view the fake baseball

I shouldn't even be in this thread

He actually only sticks half of his face in his glove.

Which is worse because then his nose sticks out over his glove and it's like, "wow".

What is taking longer, the 2nd inning of Game 3 of the World Series or the fake baseball draft?

If my job was to be the manager of the Phillies, I would have my batters call quite a bunch of timeouts when Pettitte seems almost ready to pitch. Also, after hitting ARod, I would have my Hamels throw to first about 20 times and let Pettitte sit on the bench and wait for 30 minutes.
