And I'd say 3 years later, with both looking like legitimate building blocks (albeit one of far greater value than the other), it was a pretty good idea.

Maybe, but I don't think that having them start as they had been doing previously would have caused extra injury concern/problems, if that's what you are getting at.

Nah, I'm getting at the mindset that you try to ease them into the best position for them to succeed, which I think worked. Now I think talent dominates more than that, but we do that with our young arms, it's wasn't just Girardi with JJ & Ricky, it was Fredi last year with Volstad, too.

I don't know why you walk Cano.

Yeah, he's a .320 hitter, but he'll chase just about anything.
          --------------------
          THAT'S HOW IT ENDS?

          REALLY?

          THAT'S IT?

Such an amazing game deserves better than that.

Gotcha, yeah, I dont like that mentality. It's basically assuming that your young guys are weak minded. Volstad wasnt called up until that west coast road trip last year as I recall and made one relief appearance, but he wasn't turned into a bullpen guy before being stretched back out into a starter. JJ and Nolasco spent a month or a little more coming out of the pen when apparently the front office said, Joe, you douche, these guys are starters and they are good and the other shit we have is shit, and he decided he knew better. I dont think he knew better because it seemed like he really knew nothing about them and the other folks he was ignoring had seen and scouted these guys for years

Scott Boras has a great seat. Right over the home-plate umpire's right shoulder.

I see that Pat Sajak has left his seat behind the plate. Disappointing.
