Jeter broke the all time Yankees hit record.

I don't know if I totally believe it or not, but the stuff about him being so overrated has now made him tragically underrated. Definitely the best right handed player of the 90's / 00's.

He is a good hitter. He is an overrated fielder.

                Ridiculous.

Counting players who played in both the 90's and 2000's (otherwise Pujols would be clearly ahead of him as well)

                Vladimir Guerrero.
                Manny Ramirez.
                Alex Rodriguez.
                Mike Piazza.
                Frank Thomas.
                Jeff Bagwell.
                Frank Thomas.
                Jeff Bagwell.
                Gary Sheffield.

I mean, there are probably more, but you get the point. I think each of those guys has at least a 50 point OPS advantage on him. yeah, he's a SS (not that great), but come on. He's a large part of why the Yankees have been so good, but he's not the greatest RHB of his generation.

He's kind of the Pete Rose of his generation, really. Was a key, key part of a really good franchise, but was only the best player on that team once or twice. Wasn't unbelievably skilled at any one thing (Contact, I guess), but he was a really well rounded player. Jeter hit for more power, but he hasn't had his decline phase yet. Rose hit more doubles, Jeter hit more homers, but he's played in a better era for home run hitters too.

Adrian Gonzalez and the Padres catcher just combined for one of the best defensive plays of the year in Arizona nailing Eric Byrnes at the plate

You gotta see it to believe it.
