  • 19.8% of St. Louis’ games came against the Cubs or Astros this season. The fact that the happened to play 28% of their games against the Cubs and Astros in one stretch is not really fortuitous. It’s nothing. You play the teams on your schedule.

    You're an idiot.

    • It's also worth noting that they had a lot of injuries of great significance.

      • When they are in a stretch of play very bad baseball and they play 9 straight games against the two worst teams in baseball, I would say that is fortuitous(as I believe that is when they took the 2nd WC lead).

        • Except they weren't "in a stretch of very bad baseball." You arbitrarily chose an endpoint to make them look bad.
          --------------------
They went 4-2 after the nine games against the Cubs and Astros.

          • No. That was in the stretch when they were fighting for the last wildcart spot and when it was neck and neck or they were slightly down. That stretch of 9 games is what put them over the top(as I believe the Dodgers had a 3 game lead on them at that point as the Dodgers had just taken a series from them).

            • A) You're nitpicking. Why don't you also mention that they ended the season playing the Nationals and Reds?

              B) They never lost the 2nd wildcard lead. The Dodgers tied them and then they beat the Dodgers the next day and pretty much held the lead.

The Dodgers also got to face great teams like the Padres and Rockies over the last week and a half of the season. Poor them.

              • They went 31-23 in July and August (57.4 W%). They went 6-9 early in September (40 W%). Then went 11-4 to finish the season (73.3 W%).

You're cherry picking one two-week sample size, because you said something stupid and can't admit it.

Every team has an "easy" stretch of 9 games.
Sep. 25-30, the Dodgers got to face the Padres and Rockies.

Unless you're trying to say that the lower teams of the NL Central were the worst, you really have no point.

The Cardinals beat the teams on their schedule more than the Dodgers did/more than any other team trying to get the 2nd wildcard. What's your point?

                    • The Cardinals had the second best run-differential in the National League this year. 4th best in all of baseball; only the Nationals, Yankees, and Rays were better. Pretty good for the terrible team you're making them out to be.

                      • I watched them every night usually, mostly on mute because Al Hrabosky is the worst.

Man, having to follow all of their beat writers for work was the worst. It felt like those guys might as well have been working PR for the team.
