  • Top 5 Line Ups and Rotations in Baseball

With baseball right around the corner I figured this could be something interesting to get a discussion people's thoughts on what they consider the top line ups and rotations in baseball and, more specifically, in their respective league. They can be more subjective than anything else unless you want to include projections from various sources that just recently released some of that stuff.

Best rotation in baseball goes to the Rays, IMO. Especially if Price gets his head out of his ass and the Rays sack up and let Matt Moore start.

      1. Shields
      2. Price
      3. Hellickson
      4. Moore
      5. Niemann/Davis

      Nasty.

Just imagine how much more successful he could be if he manages to extract his head from his anus!

He wasn't as sharp as he was in 2010. It wasn't a bad year, but his WAR dropped from 5.3 to 3.7. Good problem to have though.

Fangraphs actually had him with a higher WAR last year. His peripherals improved, although the results didn't. Still, a mid-3 ERA in ~225 innings is pretty awesome. Especially in the AL East.

I haven't done a list yet, but I think they definitely have the best pitching. At least in terms of starters. There should probably be a category for bullpens, as well.

I don't think I understand the Rockies mentions. Can Swift or MH explain their thought processes to me?

They finished 11th as a team in the NL in Park-Adjusted OPS+.

I doubt this is their contention but I am very dubious about park adjusted figures. Park factors, as most commonly calculated, are mathematically flawed.

                            Can you explain that further?
