More on Rasmus:
Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals and White Sox are discussing a trade involving Colby Rasmus.
Strauss writes that negotiations with White Sox GM Kenny Williams "have accelerated in recent days," and he mentions Edwin Jackson and Matt Thornton, as well as minor league talent, as possibilities to head to St. Louis. The Nationals and Rays are also still interested in Rasmus, though it appears the White Sox might be a better fit. The Cardinals have consistently said Rasmus was not available, but it's been clear all along that he was for the right price.

Carlos Beltran told a friend this weekend that despite his public statements that he would approve a trade to Texas or Boston, he has told the Mets he only wants to be traded to one of seven National League contenders, according to a source familiar with that conversation. The source, who was not present for the conversation, said Beltran doesn't want to approve a deal to Texas because the Rangers would want him to play center field and because he's not familiar with the AL West. Texas has been described by multiple sources to have ramped up its pursuit of Beltran over the weekend.

Upton has to be the most unfairly maligned player I've ever experienced. He's better than Longoria and isn't half the douche he is and still gets crapped on and Longo gets the benefit of the doubt. This post was brought to you by: Dat SEC Speed
