I think if the Gonzalez trade goes through the Sox will target Werth to help balance the line up out. While Crawford is a better player than Werth, Werth will also take less money and less years. Crawford is a very poor hitter vs. LHP.

Also coming off his best season ever, and 3 other bests before that. He's got a few good years of baseball left in him.

I'd still rather Crawford though. We don't really need offense at that position, it was basically a black hole last year and we still had one of the best offenses in the league (along with a myriad of other injuries).

Sounds like talks fell through because the Sox couldn't work out an extension with him. I don't think this means they won't trade for him later though.
